Did you check all components before the ignition coil? is it an inline 6 or 5.2L?

My 1996 Jeep Cherokee SE will break down and no longer start, even after replacing the battery, crank position sensor, and the alternator, and replaced a 30 A fuse that it blew any suggestions?

Check your ignition coil and fuel pump. Also, many people forget to check the PCV Valve. Make sure that the grommet is not clogged. If the air can't get out, the car dies.

Good luck!

New fuelpump installed no power supply, pump relay powered, safety relay powered,no bad fuses????

if you have no fuel when the and it just wont start it may be the crank position sensor if it's the 4.0l engine the crankshaft position sensor is on the top of the transmission bell housing on the driver's side and can be accessed from underneath the vehicle and is plugged in at the back of the intake manifold

1997 Grand Cherokee 4.0, ignition shuts down sometimes backfires and keeps going, or dies completely and hopefully starts up.already replaced coil and crank sensor.

The likely answer to your problem is that you have an intermittent disconnect in the ignition system. If power supply to the ignition system drops out, some fuel still goes through and when power returns it ignites in the exhaust resulting in a backfire. I would look for a bad ignition switch, or other loose connection that could me making/breaking contact intermittently.

Does the jeep shut off when hot and restart after awhile? This could be a crank sensor problem.

I have 1996 jeep grand cherokee limited. its not starting.

Does it crank? IF it does check to see if you have spark at the plugs. If you don't have spark then the problem could be a crank sensor.
