Question about Ford Taurus

The front passenger side electric window will not go up. Both the master side and door side switch will not activate the window. I've already removed the trim to get to the window, but how do i manually crank the window up until I can get it into a repairperson?

how do you get to the motor to remove it?
is it enough to take off the inside door panel?
how do you manually get the window "up"?

I currently have the same issue. I can remove the motor (how?), but my issue evolves from one electric component to another. Initially it was my rear wiper, pulled the wiper motor and tested, it works fine. The problem has moved from the rear windshield wiper to the radio (3 times), front right passenger window (2 times), driver side window (1 time). I am pretty certain that i have some sort of roaming ground, not sure where to start looking. Any suggestions?

I chnged the master switch and I still have the same problem. this is not the case. The panel is illuminated until I try and put the window up and then it goes out again. any other suggestions.

If you have the door off and can see inside can't you just pull up on the bars to lift the window, once it sticks out a little you should be able to pull it all the way up. Since the window should not drop because the gears will hold it in place, they should still be able to move though so u don't really have to prop anything up. I think this would work. unless the gears are stripped or the bars that push the window up and down are broken, then u should prop it up.

You will have to remove the drive motor and block the window up with a piece of wood.

Do the power door locks work for that door ? Does you vehicle have door courtesy lights , turn signals on the mirror ? If your vehicle has these other options an they work , you have power to the door . There is an electronic module inside the door ,called passenger door module ! where did you check for power at , the window switch ! These are computer controlled an you would only see a few volts when pushing the switch !

Tried it today and none of the windows work from master switch on drivers side except ft passenger window, which went down but will not go back up.

You can't put up the front passenger window with it's own switch ? Did you check the POWER WINDOW RELAY in the instrument panel fuse / relay box ? An you checked POWER fuse 30amp same fuse box ? All window switches have direct power from power window relay !

1998 Rav 4 power windows.. Front Passenger window will not roll up from master or passenger side. No noise, need new motor

Each system is bad. The windows need regulators(they come with motors) the radio probably died(check fuse). And the mirror switch is bad(Since you still have power to the drivers window).

1998 olds cutlass driver side window switches dont work except for the switch that controls the passenger side front door window that works but all others dont work, would that mean need a new switch or...

Do the individual door switches work their windows? If so, it would be the driver's side door switch, the master switch, that is bad.
The fact that one window works off the driver switch means that power for the windows is at least getting to the master switch, and that the ground for all power windows is good. If the other door switches work, it is just the master switch, not a wiring problem.

2004 Saturn Ion 3 power windows inoperative

Glad you figured it out, Chuck. A good fix. BTW, that brown hot wire does not go up to switch. It comes from the fuse panel, on a circuit that receives power when key is on. It may be broken in or on one side of the boot. When I found a broken ground wire for my windows there, I did not have to cut the boot, but compressed it back and forth till seeing the break. You may be of the mind set "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", as I tend to be, so I'll, leave it at that. It IS nice to have power windows again.

My power windows in driver side and passenger back window wont go up or down.

A master switch may be at falt, but try you may want to check power gets to window motors, remove door panels and use your test lite activate switch and see if lites Ok then needs a window motor if no your master switch is bad..
Very rarely on this year you may also found broken wires between drivers door and vehicle, where harness pass from door to inside car, disconet harnes from inside left kick panel and pull it out towars door pull black rubber boot back remove electrical tape and check all wires if any open or split repair and rechek al over. good luck

Rear side windows

This may be just a case of inadvertently hitting the window lock out n th driver door window switch by mistake. Check that first. Here's some background on window operation

Principles of Operation
The driver power window regulator motor is controlled directly by the master window/door lock/unlock switch (and its integrated "auto down" module). Power is supplied to the power window relay and the master window/door lock/unlock switch, and the passenger power window switch when the SEC/timer module grounds the coil side of the power window relay. The SEC/timer module will ground this relay when the ignition is in the ON position and will remain energized for approximately 15 minutes or until the driver or passenger door is opened.
The driver power window regulator motor is a reversible motor that is operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to lower the window, and then reversing polarity on those leads to raise the window.
The passenger power window regulator motor is controlled directly by the passenger power window switch and can also be controlled by the master window/door lock/unlock switch.
The passenger power window regulator motor is a reversible motor, which is operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to lower the window, and then reversing polarity on those leads to raise the window.
The power rear quarter glass is also directly controlled by the master window/door lock/unlock switch. The power rear quarter glass power latches also utilize reversible motors. The power rear quarter glass power latches are operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to open the window, and then reversing polarity on those same leads to close the window.

Passenger electric window

Hi Ethel101
I think that what has happened with your vehicle, is that the master (driver control) switch has become defective....If you have a friend who is good with electronics you may be able to ask for help in getting it fixed....otherwise a new unit is needed.

Best regards
