2004 pontiac montana interior lights

I just bought this minivan and the interior lights are always on, I did not notice when i bought since the disable button in the overhead dash counsel was on. That night i noticed it off so I turned in on and all the lights in the van turned on and stayed on even when I shut and locked the doors. I tried using the manual to change programming options but the lights are always stuck on. Please help.

I had the same problem and tried many things to solve the problem, and I even tried reprograming the dome light delay with no luck. The problem was found accidently, when my wife pressed one of the front reading lights and I notice one was brighter than the other. I immediatly new I hit root cause to my problem. The step to get all the lights in the correct mode is to flip the dome switch to the on position, and make sure the cluster dimmer adjustment is not all the the way to the right which will turn the dome lights on, Close all the doors and press the reading light switch untill your light go out. So the reason the interior lights were on is because one of those reading light was on and we all did not know it.
Hope this helps.

Hi , this happen to me, i hope it's the same problem, you have interior light over the center passenger, make sure both buttom are push down and not in, if not look in the back by your hatch door and check your 2 lights there also, i have 2 girls that played in the van and left one turned on,believe me a simple thing like that i couldn't figure it out, it took me a while. hopefully that's your problem.

I actually disconnected the dimmer switch that controls the dashboard lights at night and re-connected and eureka it worked. I thought maybe it was stuck in the on position from that switch.

Thanks for your help

your shift cable is stretched or broke. try starting in nutral. if this doesn't work you need to adjust or replace shift cable. this is a very easy fix but it should start in neutral.

2004 Pontiac Montana...my power locks, windows and interior lights all went out at the same time. I checked the fuses...it isn't those. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Just to make sure, you did check the fuses at the end of the dash on the passenger side too as to the one under the hood in the engine compartment. If the fuses on both fuse distribution box are good, then your may have a bad body control module.
Good luck and thank you for using fixya.

Front driver side window rolls down fine but up seems to be off track is it a bad motor? also i have no interior lights but there is not a fuse for that I have searched high and low.

I have a Montana, I noticed it has an overhead switch with a light bulb on it, which turns ALL interior lights all, you can play with that as well as by the head lights the dial under that switch will turn interiors on, and the brightness of dashboard lights. As for the window being off track, mine is the same, its just a 25 cent piece that hold the window in place, not all that hard to change....hope that helps.
