What previous maintence has been done to your vehicle recently? How many miles are on the car and will you be performing the tasks I recommend?

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2011

39k miles, and it hasn't had a tune up recently, but has been taken care of with oil changes and etc
done by our ford dealer..My husband passed away and I am trying to maintain things like he did..thank you

Spark plug replacement should be done as regular maintenance at this point. Other components should be inspected by a Tech. There may be a trouble code stored in the engines computer memory that will allow a Tech to start a diagnosis, and this procedure should be the first thing that is done before any parts are replaced or considered suspect.
I would have the shop take a look at the vehicle.

How do I go about rewiring a 2003 mercury grand marquis. It has a electrical short that effects the way the car drives. It will chug when it hits 50 miles per hour but only then.

You don't need to rewire anything - driveablity problem . Do yourself a favor an take it to a qualified repair shop . All you'll do is make it unusable .

While driving when I try to accelerate after 30 miles per hour my car pulsates before picking speed. The car seems like loses speed before it pickup speed.

It's hard to say if this is something more dire than this, but have your spark plugs and wires checked out.

If a cylinder is not igniting properly when you accelerate, it would definitely cause this problem.

I had a car where it would 'jump' when I was trying to accelerate past 30-40mph and switching the wires fixed it right up. Hope this helps!

I have a 1984 mercury grand marquis when driving my car if i get up to the speed limit between 25-35 my car starts to chug like its not getting enough gas as well as going up hills. what's wrong??

I would check fuel pressure, As a rule when under a load, Low fuel pressure rears its head if its low. It allows car to operate normally but when loaded (Going up hill) Fuel pressure should be at or above 35psi minimum
