I've had mine blow twice on the EFI 3.0 engine. Toyota came with a beefed up gasket. Make sure that is the one they are using.

Ouch! Rattling is tappets usually due to low oil. Could be a number of things. Blown head gasket is one, burnt out valve or worn cam. Your oil pump may not be working also check oil level. I think there is probably some serious damage the Chev motors are strong they will drive to self destruction. If there is knocking on the bottom then you are looking at a rebuild.

You are missing the cause, the next step is to PRESSURE TEST the head, a machine shop does that for you. Long story short, something, somewhere is damaged, keep investigating until you find it.

I have a 1995 honda civc ex V-Tec. And I'm geting water on my spark plugs. is that a blown head gasget, or a craked block or head. there is no water in the oil. thats fine. one's I get it started...


If there is water on 2 adjacent plugs, there's a good chance that it's a blown head gasket. Check the compression and if 2 adjacent cylinders have low compression, that would be another indicator of a bad head gasket. Unfortunately, you wont know for certain until it is disassembled.

Yesterday leaving work a radiator line broke. I fixed the line refilled the fluids and started to complete the drive home. Not even three miles down the road my truck was pegged out of the thermostat...


check for blown head gasket. Open radiator cap, start engien and look for bubbles coming up the radiator. If exhaust gas is coming out there, your head gasket is blown. Let me know if you have more questions.

More then likely you got a blown head gasket, remove spark plugs and crank engine, if water come out of spark plug holes, blown head gasket.Good luck

Cooleant hose line broke car overheated car stoped runing no visible steam smoke replaced broken line added fluid car will still not start low compression in two chambers do I have a blown head gasket?


Remove the radiator cap,and fill to very top with coolant,then turn the engine over,and see if it pushes out the radiator ,or looks like a water fountain when turning the engine over,if it does,then the head gasket is blown,and possible warped.If not,pull the valve cover to see if the cylinders that are low,have stuck valves,that are open.Check to see if the motor oil is milky in color.If so,the heads could be cracked.Or head gasket blown.

well I'd say that coolant is definitely leaking into the combustion chamber, albeit at a slow rate (for now). It could be anything from a blown head gasket to a cracked block or head. I'd get it to a shop as soon as possible and not drive it any more than need be until that point.

Stage one of a blown head gasket is a pin hole leak. As time goes by the hole(s) get bigger.
I will start traking the coolant lost and oil lose.
From the time you stop your engine to the next morning,there can be slow leakage between the coolant passage and the cyclinder end of the head gasket.
This is one possiblilty of lots of white smoke in AM.
Small amount is normal but large amount of smoke is a call for a professional check up.
To pin point a blowing headgasket you will need
1)coolant system compression tester
or
2)chemical reaction test for combustion test gas
If it's the org. engine from 1997,with over 110,000 then blowning headgasket is a good possiblity.
Drive it to the shop and let the pro to do the coolant pressure test and combustion gas test.
A full head gasket job with head re-surface (if it can be re-use) is worth it.
Shop around on well estiblished independent shops.
Fix the blown head gasket at the first stage of failure can safe you thousand on a head replacement.

you could have a blown head gasket in between two cylinders.or you need to change your fuel pressure regulator,you might need a new fuel filter..

I own a m reg 95 model civic. The car is overheating steam is coming out of the radiator. I tested the cooling fan and it does not seem to come on when the engine is hot. HELP!


I hate to say it but you might have blown a head gasket. Try this- in the morning/anytime, (cold engine) pop the hood and remove the radiator cap. Start the engine. If it bubbles/blows out antifreeze- yep, blown head gasket. Most people think you'll have water in your oil if you do have a blown head gasket. It can blow 2 ways. Exhaust gases into coolant passage (your case) or vise versa (hince the water/antifreeze in oil). Try that- lemme' know
