I own a 2007 Chev Cavalier and have trouble with the car starting after it is filled with gas everytime since July of this year. The car will not turn over the first time ever after a fill and most times I must pump the gas pedal in order for the car to start. I have had my car into a dealership 4 times and they can not seem to find the problem. I have had the fuel injection done and they have tested the gas line going from the tank to the engine and it seems to have gas flowing. What to do??? Colleen

Had this problem a couple of times and it has driven it crazy to be honest ,one vehicle i cured by leaving the fuel cap off but this was a fault with the vapour re cycling ,now try filling next time with the vapour cover away from the tank if you can on american fuel pumps ,now if that doesnt work then it may be extreme but i found that one vehicle a opel astra which is our equvilent i had to change the speedo /dash head as its its full of fancy electronics at the back with lots of microprocessors and when the gauge went up it caused a problem somehow with the ECU i have no idea how or why so please dont ask ,now ask me about a 1960 car or truck but this new electronc stuff ,but i dont know why or what made me do it but i got one out of the scrapyard from a accident damaged vehicle and the car seemed the same but when i went and filled with petrol it started straight away ,I still dont know what i done though or why or even what made me do it in the first place just gut instinct

Having trouble getting my 2007 GMC Acadia to start after putting in fuel. It starts with no problem any other time, but whenever i put gas in it has trouble starting backup.

When a car will not run right after refueling, it is usually the vent valve, that vents the tank.
If not opening, then using a small amount of gas will create a very strong vacuum, and not allow the car to run.
Try cracking the gas cap a little, to let air in and reduce the vacuum. Automotive Evaporative Emissions Part One

Your sequence for trouble shooting should be as follows
(1) No gas coming into the engine due to clogged fuel filter.
(2) Injection fuel lines clogged.
(3) Loose or Bad ignition circuitry.

ENGINE CODE P0442 FOR 1997 CHEV CAVALIER

this obd2 trouble code table can help you understand the meaning of code.
for this code, you can
Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
Otherwise, replace the gas cap, or
Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses

My 2992 chev cavalier is surging forwarward when I step on the gas untill i reach aprox 30 km an hr

I guess it is surging forward if it is a 2992 model year! All jokes aside it sounds as though you are having fuel injection problems. Have them flushed and it should straighten itself out. If the fuel injectors are bad you will no after you flush them and problem persists.

1989 Z24, 2.8v6 intermittent stalling while driving. Sometimes will restart, but not go far, sometimes will not restart at all. Usually starts fine the next day, may run OK several days before acting up...

the pcm may have a cracked board, i had an 88 cavalier z24 with the same problem, replced the ecu and it ran fine, the problem is that the boards inside the pcm crack and lose connection, the next time it acts up open the glove box and try tapping on the pcm, if the car responds at all, the pcm is bad
