HOW CAN I IDENTIFY THE FUSE FOR ABS AND PLEASE GUIDE ME HOW I CAN DISABLE ABS. MY ABS IS GIVING ME PROBLEMS BY MAKING SQUEEZY NOICES WHEN MY CAR STARTS RUNNING AND THE BRAKE PADDLE GOES DOWN GIVING A FEELING THAT THE BRAKES HAVE FAILED. SOMETIMES THE ABS ALSO LIGHTS UP ON THE GUAGE. THE PROBLEM IS GETTING PERSISTANT. I NEED GUIDANCE IN THE MATTER
Your problem is not the ABS. You could have a number of problems going on. Often when your pedal goes down you have a bad master cylinder that is not holding pressure. If your ABS light comes on irratically you probably have a bad wheel bearing. Grasp the top of your tire and push in and pull out on it, if there is any movement get it fixed immediately. ABS sensors are in your wheel bearing asssemblies, if the bearing is going out it will turn on your ABS light. Your brake system in your car is the most important part of your car, don't skimp on them. They will save you.

Some ABS systems can be bypassed. You'll have to get a mastercylinder from a simular GM sedan without ABS from a junk yard.Maybe a GM vehicle with same engine.Reconnect the brakelines the same way they were on the junk yard car and bleed the brakes. And some ABS sytems can be removed from the mastercylinder and the lines can be reconnected to the mastercylinder w/out the ABS unit. You may want to try this first.
Hello tcb476: My name is Roger and i will answer your question. The fuel pump relay on your Oldsmobile Achieva is located under the hood. Open the hood and look at the left strut tower. You should find a relay block attached to the tower..There should be 4 relays. Three of them will be in a row. The center relay should be your fuel pump relay. Please rate the answer you received as this is how we know you received the correct information. Should you need further help please just ask. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
That's usually caused by a bad abs sensor and/or wheel bearing. The quick fix is to locate the fuse box, on that it should be on left side of the dash, only accesable with the driver's door open. Locate the fuse for ABS and remove it, ABS is now disabled, this will trip the ABS light on the dash, also keep in mind you will lock your brakes under heavy braking conditions.
