Question about 2000 Dodge Ram Maxi

2000 Dodge Ram Diesel starting problem

Twice now within the last few days my truck has not started. The engine turns over but will not crank. The first time it happened I had stopped at the hardware store and when I went out to start my truck it would not start. After waiting for about 20 or 30 min. it started up just fine. After I drove it home I turned it off and restarted it several times in a row with no problems. Today it happened again. After driving it home from town I tried to start it about 10 min. later and all it would do is turn over but not crank. After a couple of hours I tried it again and it started with no problems. Also, about a week ago my engine light came on. The next day it was not lit, then it came back on and has stayed on. The truck has 226,xxx miles. I have had the truck only for a little over a year and a half. I have not had any problems with it yet, but I do not know the history of the truck before I bought it. Any help will be great.

Testing crank sensor

At low speeds a bad camshaft sensor will cause the car's engine to stall. The engine may also experience an inability to turn over, resulting in the car not starting. This may not happen all the time since the car's on-board computer will use the last readouts from the camshaft sensor to operate the pistons and manage fuel flow, Good-Day!

I changed out one of my injectors and now my truck won't start it just cranks over

What engine? Is this the diesel? If so, then you've got to work the air out of the lines introduced when changing the injector. If not diesel, then please re-post with complete information, including if check engine light is on with any codes present.

You most likely have a internal short in the starter. You could pay to have a cranking test done or just replace the starter.

Wont start.

The cam or crank position sensors are notorious for failing, after they age and get heat in them the signal is no longer generated. Also make sure fuel lift pump is working properly, check all of the fuel filters and for fuel leaks of any kind including sucking air on the suction side of the lift pump. Good Luck!!
