The problem is neither of those things. The CHECK ENGINE light is on because the engine computer has sensed a dangerous problem. To protect the engine, the computer has limited the power output of the car. The computer has put the engine into what we mechanics refer to as "limp home" mode. You need to take your car to a competent mechanic to have the problem diagnosed and repaired. Once it is fixed so the CHECK ENGINE lamp stays out, your engine's power will return. Common causes of this sort of thing are a bad MAF [Mass Air Flow] sensor or a clogged catalytic converter [often caused by a bad MAF or bad oxygen senor or a vacuum leak]
It can turn the check engine light on because of the extra oxygen that enters behind the catalityc converter but to be sure you should have the computer scanned for trouble codes, this would give me some sort of idea what the problem actually is.
Yes the SRS (air bags) light could be related to the horn problem. Working on the SRS can be very hazardous so I highly recommend you take the car to your local Honda dealer and let an expert repair the SRS.
The check engine light can be many things and a scan of the ECU will help in diagnosing the problem.
If the light was flashing when it came on, then it means your engine is misfiring.
A solid light can mean anything.
light comes on when the computer detects a
fault of some sort in its diagnostic tests. If it keeps detecting this
issue, the light will remain on. If the light turns off, then it has
detected that the issue may no longer be present.
order to find out what the exact reason was for your light, You need to
have your car computer scanned to retrieve the code that
the computer would have stored when the light triggered. Most garages
will do this free of charge. The code will tell you what may have
caused the light to initially go on
If the check engine light is on, then take it to any auto parts store. They will attach a scan tool and get a readout of the engine fault codes. This will help narrow down what is causing the problem. The purpose of the check engine light is to alert the driver to a potential problem. It could be an emission problem of some sort like an oxygen sensor going bad or some other reason. Even though the engine is running fine, the codes should still be checked. Hope this helped you.
