If the starter is acessable, hit it with a stick or something (but not too hard to damage it) and then try and see if it works. Sometimes rust and etc builds up in the starter and prevents the plunger from moving and starting the car

2001 kia sephia car wont start just a ticking sound what is wrong

The ticking or clicking sound is coming from your Starter Solenoid because it is not getting enough Voltage from the Battery to engage the Starter Drive. It sounds like you have a dead Battery, try recharging your Battery first to see if it holds a full charge or check your Battery with a Volt Meter, when not running it should show at least 11.5-12.5 Volts, which would be enough power to start your car, any lower than that replace the Battery.

Own a 1999 jeep cherokee sport has a problem when attempting to start while turning the key forward i am hearing a clicking noise from the passenger side fuse panel but the starter and engine do not turn...

The clicking noise you hear is likely the starter relay. (should be identified inside the box cover) You need to check that battery is up to full voltage, terminal connections are clean and secure and that there is 12 volts at the main power lead on the starter and power at the small trigger wire connection at the starter when the key is turned to the start position. If you have that, then very likely the starter needs to be replaced. If not you will need to check wiring and neutral safety switch as well as main fuses in the power distribution center (the box where the clicking relay is, near the battery)

Clicking noise behind dash when starting; tripometer resets to 0

the clicking sounds like the starter solenoid engaging & disengaging due to low voltage. Battery may have a short. Check voltage with engine off. Should be 12 volts. Engine running 14 volts.

Ticking noise from engine

if you've got a few $$ to risk ,try some synthetic oil with new filter ...it often work good for these kind of noise as long as it is not a loud knoking nois ...if it is only a fast clic clic nois it will probably work!

Wont start

Is starter engaging but is turning the engine slowly then not turning engine? (that's what I'm reading) If so, check both connections at the block and starter. If reading proper voltage 12v or better, check voltage across battery when in "start" if it drops below 9.5v the starter has failed. (you can turn the engine by hand...correct?)

My cherokee sport cranks real slow and wont start

Check battery voltage should be 12v or better with motor off. start engine read voltage again should be 12.9 or better and then turn all accessories on...voltage should be same or slight y less but best would be at least 13v let it idle and volts should not creep downward..
Volts should never be below 12 and never at 14 except for a brief time after startup. Turn engine off and disable ignition system, then check across battery while craqnking. Volts should not go below 9.5. If so, have batt charged and load tested. If good, replace starter. No valid electrical computer testing can be done without a fully charged battery.

Ignition turns but no start

it is an issue in the steering column. I am getting my 2005 back today, finally. 2 mechanics and they said they have never seen this issue before!!
The steering wheel has to be pulled off and the part replaced. It is cutting all power to the ignition switch. It is not the starter or the Alternator... it is in the steering column. It should be about 200.00 to fix.
