Check engine light code 12 what it means? - 1990 Honda Civic

on dlc connector jump A and B engine soon light will flash code tree times each code and then 12 code means it is finish retrieving code

have your obd II CODES READ this will give you more of an idea what is going on with it. most auto parts stores read these codes. If you are smelling rubber check your serpitine belt for where and if it looks good take the belt loose and check the rest of the components that the serptine belt runs on altinator, water pump,powersteering pump, pully tensioner, other pullys ext.

Code 12 means either the system checks good,or the ecm is bad.The computer.

Code 42 1984 model injector circuit 1 open or shorted
1986+ models: ASD relay open or shorted

Code 12 The battery has been disconnected and the computer (ECU) has been reset.

these are only the 2 digit codes, but they have links to obd II codes as well (to anyone looking)

Code 12 means That the Crankshaft position sensor may need replacement.It is located near the crankshaft maybe under the timing cover.

oxygen sensor

What year is your car and what engine? That makes a lot of difference. What the pulses should indicate is a code 12 is stored (code 55 is usually an "all clear" code, meaning that the ECU is done reading out the codes that are stored). If you got only a 55, it would mean you have no codes. 1255 means that 12 is the only code you have stored.

I don't have a dodge ram but the codes for the dodge vehicles where pretty much the same. For my intrepid the codes read for the following numbers

12 - Problem with battery connection (This usually happens if you disconnect the battery)
21 - Problem with the oxygen sensor circuit
52 - Oxygen Sensor signal input indicates rich mixture during engine operation.

It sounds like you may need to change an oxygen sensor. Hope this helps.
