Buick Regal 3.8 dies while braking

My 1993 Buick Regal 3.8 V6 dies while I am braking. It only happens when the engine is warm and the engine is under light or no load and (what makes me really confused) if I put the car in neutral it starts right up. Any idea what might cause this?

The problem has been solved, it was over heating.

Oh my God, i'm having the same problem. Mine is a '93 Regal Custom (3.1). She's fine cold but when brought up to standard operating temp (she's not overheating) she dies when i slow down and/or idle. I have 2 keep her up over 2k rpm for her not to die. I went ahead and did a tuneup (plugs, wires, oil change, all filters, pcv valve) and it improved a little. The only filter i bought but didn't replace is the fuel filter, but i doubt that's the issue. I also cleaned out the egr valve (a new one costs almost 200.00) and again, it helped just a little. A new or cleaned out egr might work 4u. I think the reason it didn't 4 me is because my car sat for a year on a farm and there's some kind of fuzz in my crankcase where the egr bolts on. There was a mouse's nest in my air filter when i got her...If u get any answers please share!!! Thanks, Jake (Jacqueline) Adams

I had a similar problem where my 93 Buick Regal would die when decelerating but would start right back up afterwards. I took it to the mechanic and they replaced the fuel pump and filter, which did the trick.

Check to see if you have a lot of dirt in the throttle body. Clean the throttle blades out with brake cleaner or throttle body cleaner. You'll see alot of dirt come out. Keep spraying until it comes out fairly clear and wipe the throttle body out with a rag. If this doesn't do it, you may have a problem with the throttle position sensor (TPS). This sensor controls the idle after the car warms up and keeps it from dying when you brake or sit at idle.

Have a 1995 Buick Regal. Car stalls when braking at a stop sign or braking into a left or right turn.RPMs drop to 500 then stalls without warning.Car starts right up with no problem and runs great.

Do you hear a sucking noise from under the hood when you apply the brakes? You could have a bad brake booster venting too much engine vacuum when applying the brakes causing the engine to die.

No tail lights or turn signal, just running lights and flashers

I had the same problem about a month ago myself. I had to replace a fuse which was under the driver side under the dash it cost me $6 to replace. I cant remember the name of the part but call a auto store and explain to them the problem. I think it was called a relay fuse or something! Good luck with that!

Car will not start

it sounds like your ignition control module.the location would depend on the engine in your car.with a v6 they are usually located under the coils on top of the motor.with a 4cyl. it is usually on the back side of the motor,it is also mounted under the ignition coils.

Idle position switch or sensor. I had 93 that would stall when i came to a stop. Cost me $43 but it was worth it. I don't know if this will fix it, but it sounds like it would.

2000 buick regal, abs studdering noise.

If you are braking hard and one or more wheels lose grip, the ABS system will modulate brake pressure in pulses to the slipping wheels. That is a normal feeling when this is happening. If you have a pulsation under light braking, it is likely that you have brake rotors that are no longer true and and need to be replaced or machined.
