Question about 1997 Dodge Neon

1 Answer

Top of radiator

There is a rectangle on the top of the radiator that looks like it has been cut out with numbers on it. Why is this there and why is there radiator fluid bubbling out of it at times (not a lot). The car does not overheat, but I am getting ready to travel cross country. I have been told by a mechanic that this is a burping system of sort for the radiator....should I worry about this?

Hi Joe. For your information you never but never fill a radiator when the engine is hot and engine running. Must first have a cool engine open the radiator and if is only topping up coolant be first sure that the water is clean and fresh ( drain the old coolant first ) and after leaving a space for the coolant top up and always not overfill . Then you start the engine and let it run in idle with radiator cap off, turn also the heater on to hot air for helping the coolant to circulate. When you see that the temperature rise close the radiator and continue with engine on idle until the fan starts. Leave the car running till the fan cut out. Switch engine off,let it cool down - for dropping the pressure - and after you do open the radiator to check for any need for topping up coolant. As soon as you have completed just close the radiator.

I need help asap on replacing wires on distributor cap, i understand the firing order but i cant figure out where 1 is on cap. is it next to the stick out part.

Im sure youve figured this out, but just in case!

Find the connector that plugs into the distributor.

Follow the rectangular shaped top part on the distributor
to the opposite side away from the connector.

Number 1 wire is at the right corner of the rectangular
top part when youre standing at the front left corner
of the car by the battery and looking along that rectangle on top.
Its right against the thumbscrew that tightens down the air
filter housing.

number 8 is the next one to the left of number 1.

can post a pic if you need.

Radiator has a hole in the top corner and needs to be replaced. I need to know how to remove the radiator. thank you

This is not a tough job...if you cannot drain the radiator first...then disconnect or cut off the lower radiator hose...(best to replace both upper and lower hoses with the radiator swap...:) Spray both transmission line connections with PB Blaster before trying to loosen...remove the plastic holdown top of the radiator in order to lift out after all connections may need to size the replacement hoses to be sure no crimping or bends...I highly recommend th anti-freeze labeled "for all makes and models" much better for longevity...the dexcool is not good for gaskets and seals...:( Hope this helps.

Hi. i recently bought a 2000 saturn 3-door, and it didn't come with an owners manual. on the dashboard there is a warning light that has recently started coming on that i don't recognize. i'm hoping you...

Sounds like a low coolant indicator.
Is the car running hot? Check and top off coolant (Radiator fluid) but do NOT open radiator cap if the engine has run in the past hour. Most times you top off the fluid by filling seperate reservoir

Where is the radiator fan motor relay located?

Check under the hood on the drivers side. There should be a rectangle black plastic box that has relays in it. (You'll see a wire harness go in/out) If you pop the cover off, then look inside the cover, many of them have a diagram that lists which are which. Others have the diagram right on the top of the lid so you can tell before you even remove the lid which one it is.

I have a leak coming from the upper radiator hose (someone else looked at my engine and told me this) the only problem is i have NO idea which the upper radiator hose is...some kind of diagram would be...

you should be able to see the leak being that the radiator hose is right there around the top where you would fill or check your radiator fluid. you can also google it if you absolutely need a picture like engine specs of your year make and model.

Range rover p38 radiator removal info

First, remove the grille, then the top panel. Remove the viscous coupling and fan. Remove the top radiator mounts, Remove the coolant hoses and oil pipes, remove 4 bolts holding the A/C and intercooler/or PAS radiators (depending if yours is diesel or petrol.) then lift up and out the radiator. Fitting is reversal of removal.
Hope this helps

Picture of 03 impala 3400 firing order?

The side of the engine closest to the radiator is the even number cylinders, 2-4-6. The side next to the firewall is1-3-5.

Looking at the coils from the front of the engine the one on the left is 5-2, center 3-6, right side 4-1. If the coils haven't been replaced the cylinder numbers will be on the top of the coil. The plug wires will also have the cylinder numbers on them if they have not been replaced

firing order 1-2-3-4-5-6
