Question about 1996 Pontiac Sunfire
I have a 96 sunfire that takes several attempts to start then it may or may not idle. when accelerator pressed it bogs and dies. problem was intermitten and now is a every time problem.
I would surely say it is a fuel issue. Do you have a CEL? For the price and piece of mind, I would replace the fuel filter. After you remove the fuel filter, blow through the side that was going to the engine (against the directional arrow on the filter) Blow the fuel and any dirt/sludge onto a clean paper towel. You may be suprised in the amount of debris in the filter. If this is not the fix then we will continue to diagonis. If you don't want to go through the trouble of chaning the $10.00 part, you could rent/buy/borrow a fuel pressure tester. THe schrader valve is located on the passenger side of the fuel rail.
