Question about 1987 Toyota Pickup
This toyota has known carburetor problems. The idle speed stays high when you let off on the gas. The throttle does not return the way it is supposed to. A rubber band (at least it's not duct tape!) currently provides return tension.
Recently, when driving to Seattle, we came to a stop and it really wanted to die. When the engine speed dropped to idle (after hitting the pedal once or twice), the load seemed to want to kill it (this problem is newer than the high idle thing). When you shift to neutral and give it some gas, it still runs rough, but won't die. When going down the road at normal speeds, it seems to run fine.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Check your carb and shift cables sometimes they burr up on the inside of casing and wont let it return to normal position
