Sounds like a rectifier malfunction, or wiring short.

Have a 93 f350 7.3 diesel altenator wont charge is there a fusible link

Hi Bryan, I'm glad to help!

To answer your question: YES there is a fusible link and there are 2 places that usually put it. (1) Is coming off the battery wiring right at the battery, on almost all vehicles it is a GREEN WIRE. (2) Sometimes they run it directly off the alternator itself. NOTE: Here's how to check it. FREE it up so you can pull it will hard, if it gets longer then replace it. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Bryan.

Blowing 80 amp fusible link for Battery.

this link may help you guys. You'll have to check a few to find what you need but I suspect, if you can interpret the drawings, you'll narrow it down, otherwise take a copy to your mechanic, and it might help him.
