Wiper motor problem

Hi,, i just change new wiper motor and still dont work?? please help me ,if you can,,,

    I'm restoring a 1986 Ford F-150 and recently replaced the wiper motor. I do not have intermittent wipers so there is only a low or high setting. When I put it on low setting I hear a whine and the wipers move really slow. If I move the switch a little harder than a jiggle they stop. When I put it on the high setting they freeze where they are and do not move until I put it back on the low setting. Sometimes they just freeze up in any position and weather or not the truck is running they still wont move. All the fuses and wiring look fine and when I looked at the switch exterior it didn't look like anything was wrong. If they freeze up in a position I've turned the switch and ignition off and manually and gently reset the wiper arms in the resting position and when I turn the switch back on they'll come on normally again sometimes with a whine and sometimes just regularly but the high setting still won't work. I think it is the switch itself but just want to be certain. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, even though the manuals don't list the wiper motor circuit as being protected by or through the fuse panel, check your fuses and make sure they're good. Some other models are protected, and I have found a few mistakes in the manuals. It may be an auxilliary circuit. There are only a few items in the wiper circuit, so next check all the electrical connectors, some times it doesn't take much for a connection to fault. Since you have a new motor (it just might be a bad one, been known to happen), there's only the wiper switch, and I'm sure on the supercab, an internal governor. The governor is located right behind the dash panel, close to the back end of the switch. The wire from the switch runs to the governor, and then to the motor. You also have a ground wire coming off the switch, so make sure it's clean and tight. Check all the grounds used in the circuit. And that's about it. The only other thing I can think of would be the possibility of something not right on the windshield washer side of it, but I've never dealt with that personally to know what to tell you off the top of my head. I have a peugeot partner van and the wipers dont work. A have put on a new switch, but they still dont work, is it the switch


Most likely it will be a fuse, if you have already checked that then the wiper motor may have packed up. by switch I pressume you mean the main switch to turn them on? from inside the van.

I had one of these some time ago a 1999 version that had many problems with the wipers before I had the motor changed.

9 times out of ten its the wiper pulse board located on the wiper motor under the plastic cover.
cost 25 to 30 bucks at napa easy to change

if motor is running check for striped arm or bushing look at the arm that hooks to motor whats it doing see if drive arms are turning with motor they will be short

Wiper motor problem

Check the Relay in the Battery Junction box it is the 3rd one from edn oposite if 3 small fuses close to it with a 5 amr fuse in the middle. Hope this helps it realy should from the sounds of it

Windshield wipers dont work

wiper motor easy to change just remove arms first ,check fuses first though as these units last the life of the car normally .look for fuse panel and you will find----look inside fuse panel cover and the fuses are shown
