Inside the boot, remove the pastic covers which give access to the lights. Then unscrew the light clusters -some fixings are difficult but not totally inaccessible- and remove the taillights cluster.

cover the whole housing with a quality bath or shower silocone sealant and re-assemble.

HOW TO REPLACE BRAKE LIGHT ON 1997 F 150 TRUCK

if only one side of brake light is out it's probally the bulb, these are easly changed , by first going to auto parts store and getting new bulb , then using phillips head screwdriver remove four screws that are around permiter of tailight that is out , carefull dont loose these screws you'll need to put them back , gently rock tailight back and forth to break gasket seal and pull light straight out of truck it comes out about 10 inches , this modle has if i remember right three bulbs in taillight it's the center one if i remember right grap the white plastic bulb holder firmly and turn 1/4 turn counterclockwise the bulb holder should come free of tail light , grab bulb with one hand and holder with other and wiggle gently sideto side till bulb pops free of holder , use a clean towel or cloth to hold new bulb and insert it back same direction as previous bulb, wipe all smuges and fingerprints off bulb (this would cause hot spot on bulb and make it fail early) reinsert holder into tail light , I use car wax as gasket renewer on tail light border before i put it back in, but thats optional reinstall all four screws back in , there you are done !!

How to change a brake light

On most new cars you need to go in trunk peal back carpeting or remove plastic cover,locate nuts holding tailight in place, remove nuts,(make sure you get all of them)grab taillight and slowly pull away from back of car.If it dosent come off fairly easy you missed a nut or 2.Once your holding tailight in your hands just turn socket on back of light to get to bulb.

Top Tailight is out. Does the whole light need to

Your rear taillight bar that sits atop the back area are LED lights and if the whole bar is out then it needs to be replaced as a unit. You can find the part at rockauto.com and it is $50.79 before shipping. The part number is DORMAN Part # 923203 moreinfo2.png {#15170955}

How can I replace my rear tailight on my 2003 Thunderbird?

you should be able to remove the taillight lens. open your trunk,you may have to pull back the carpet covering the taillight retainer nuts.There should be 3 or 4 retainer nuts,these will either be a plastic wing nut style,or metal nut. remove all of them and gently pull on the lens,it should come out with very little resistance.the bulb fixtures will generally turn counterclockwise. replace burnt bulbs and replace the lens. hope this helps. Taillights wont burn

You'll have to use a 12vdc test light and start probing for power with tailights on, and I'd work from tailight & go forward. You did check all your fuses right?

Blown tailight fuse

I will bet that you have some type of trailer wiring harness installed. If so, remove it. I have observed this condition many times. It seems that corossion gets into the trailer wiring and shorts out that particular fuse. Hope this helps.
