I think your problem may be MICE. Check your upper and lower O2 Sensor wires. I believe they are both 4 wire sensors. If a wire has been chewed through this is what happens. I personally had this problem myself once in my 2000 Hyundai Accent. GOOD LUCK.
Is the car an auto? If so there is an electronic switch on the brake pedal that only allows gears to be selected when the brake is pressed. Either the switch is faulty, or a wiring fault or you've kicked the wires off.
If its manual I have no idea without seeing it.
Try to jump the fan out. and wire it direct. The temp switch might be bad, and not kicking the fan in??? Also have you changed to theromatic out, It might be stuck???
