Warning light for 4-wheel drive

Brought my 1999 Montero Sport to the dealer for the blinking 4-wheel drive light. They've changed 2 sensors and and a switch, but cannot get the light to stop blinking. Any ideas????

I had this problem on my 1995 Montero. The 4-wheel-drive indicator lights wouldn't stop blinking when I switched from 4-wheel drive to 2-wheel drive. It turns out that I had a slow leak in one of the front tires. After I fixed the leak and made sure the pressure was the same in both front tires, the problem went away.
This made sense to me because if one tire is much lower in pressure, it's closer to the ground, i.e. has a smaller radius, and therefore rotates more quickly. The manual says to drive in a straight line when disengaging 4-wheel drive but with the lower tire pressure on one side it was the equivalent of driving in a circle.
You could try checking your tire pressures and see if that makes a difference. Hope this helps.

1999 Montero Sport XLS jerking into reverse. Error Code says change Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor

Hi Sc, The job is labour intensive and may solve the problem. I wonder if the fluid in the tranny has ever been replaced? It's meant to be replaced at least once a year. If it smells burned have it replaced. Ask your shop to check the gearbox and engine mountings and in the event of your vehicle having rear wheel drive, the universal joints on the prop shaft. Have you checked or scanned for a Wheel Speed Sensor issue? (WSS)

Sounds like a "WSS" (wheel speed sensor) problem. Each wheel has one. Located on the backside of each hub, between the brake disc and hub bearing. Check for loose connector first. Wire damage? Wiring touching exhaust pipes or rubbing wheel or tire? Look for mud or debris or damage to the sensor's or the rotating sensor ring. ( has a lot of "teeth") Try driving in reverse, in a straight line 25 to 30 feet, then drive forward twice that distance. If that does not clear the warning lamps most auto parts stores can hook into your computer (usually for free) and determine which sensor(s) have an issue. Replacing these sensors is common and simple. You may still need to get the code cleared to turn light off.

I have a pajero io 3 doors, model 2000. the light for 2W/4WD is always blinking (the upper 2 lights). i dont know why it come like this, i need ur suggestion for this

Hi, you will need to take it to mitsubishi dealer and have them scan. But it sounds like o ring in 4 wheel drive has busted. Does it still go in and out of 2 and 4 wheel drive? If it does it is safe to drive with blinking...if not it may do alot of damage.

Four wheel drive lite is blinking and wont go out

Hi, You will need to take to mitsubishi dealer and have them scan your diagnostics. But this is a common thing in montero's and it sounds like o ring (which is plastic) in transfer case has busted. As long as it switches in and out of 4 wheel drive it is ok to drive. If it doesn't, dont drive it...it could cause alot of damage.
