    do any of the lights come on? the horn works? etc.,.;
If so turn on the dome light while cranking (or trying) to crank it over and see if it goes out or dims.. if it goes out most likely bad connection.. if dims,. could be bad battery.
    Best regards

92 Cavalier Z24 wont start, or crank. BRAND new starter and solenoid, yet my problem persists, no cranking, no sounds of the solenoid.

If there's no 'click' when you turn the key there's a good chance that the starter relay isn't firing. Cheap part and easy to replace.

When I turn the key nothing happens. No clicks, no crank. All of the lights work properly. No dimming or turning off when I try to start. This has happened a few times before. The first time I put the car...

Ignition switch....the electrical ignition switch. To verify, find the thick white wire in the harness coming from the switch and do two things; first, check for power at this wire, when you switch the key position to start. If nothing, power the wire momentarily with the key in the run position, and your car should start.

Key turns to "start" position. Nothing happens, key doesn't spring back to "run".

Sounds like the link between the lock cylinder and the switch is broke.

2003 alero steering won't lock and nothing happens when you turn the key in the ignition

If the security light keeps flashing, you might as well do a reset.
Be sure to turn off all the accesories including the radio before you start the process.
Insert the key to the ignition switch and turn the key to ON position without starting the car.
leave it ON until the flashing light (security) stops. It will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
As soon the flashing stop, turn the key to OFF
position and start the cart.
Hope this help.

Put key in ignition, turn to on position (do not start)
Leave in ON position for EXACTLY 10 minutes. As soon as pass light turns off, then IMMEDIATELY start the car.

I have a 2001 vw beetle that will not start the lights come on when key is turned but nothing happens to the starting section it was suggested to change the ingition control module if you think that is...

before replacing your ignition control module, it is a good idea to test if it is your starter/solenoid. I dont know if the solenoid is built into the starter on this car (many or most newer ones are) but either of a bad starter or solenoid could also cause a no start condition and is probably a more likely and simpler problem scenario. When you say "nothing happens to the starting section" do you mean you've already tested that no power goes to your starter or simply that when you turn the key to the start position nothing happens? If you have a voltage tester there should be a smaller red wire leading to the starter/solenoid in addition to the large one going straight from the battery box. If this is 'hot' or has voltage when the key is turned to start (12-14 volts is good) then the ignition module is not the problem. Remember that on your VW you can only hit the start point once for each key cycle.. ie before your 'start' point works, the key has to begin in the complete off position. you can't 'retap' start from the on or acc position for additional tests.

Turning ignition key there is silence....battery is ok as lights, radio come on strong. I keep trying, turning the key and moving gear shift et...and maybe it finally connects and engin fires and starts...

When this happens and the key is in the Ignition position, do the dash lights, etc come on? Could be the ignition switch is bad, and this is and easy way to tell. If the ignition is on and when we go to START, nothing happens, I would replace the starter/solenoid next.

Turn the ignition key and nothing happens. turn it

when it won't start, use a test light on the solenoid wire (the small gauge wire) in the start position, you should have voltage. Also check your shift linkage to make sure the shift cable isn't keeping it from going into park position. try it in neutral position as well... that's a clue to a trans selector switch

Could be.

Also the jiggling thing could be a coincidence. :0)

Tell me this.... when you turn the key, do you hear a CLICK?? If so your starter is probably bad.
