Speed sensor problems

speed sensor tells the pcm how fast the car is going, Also it serves to tell the abs computer that the wheel speeds are the same, and triggers the abs in the event of a slide. Some speed sensors controll how the trans shifts as well as speedometer operations :)

Check Output Speed Sensor. All newer cars use these in place of Speedo Cables.

Its a rear speed sensor on top of your diff case its around 30 bucks if you do it yourself only one stud/nut, the 99 durango does not have a speedo cable.

1999 Dodge Durango. Speedometer not working.

We had the same problem. The dealership wanted to do a 2,000 major overhaul of the rear axle. I found out there is a speed sensor that is easily replaced (it happened a few years ago but I remember the part being pretty inexpensive). Hope this helps.

Press the accelerator and it changes where the AC air comes out.

I don't suppose you have a vacuum gauge you could "T" into line after check valve somewhere to see if vacuum present while accelerating? How hard is it to pull controls out to see back of them, and locate vacuum feed line?

On the side of the intake there is a one way check valve in a vacuum line to the vent controls. Replace it

The speedometer in my 1999 Dodge Durango only works above 30 mph. What is causing this?

It is either your output speed sensor in the transmission, or if you have rear anti lock, the rear wheel speed sensor. Check both for metal contamination.
