I just had the same problem. All of the fluid leaked out and I had to get the three small engines that move the top replaced. It was about 2200. I hope this helps

It will be provided with the original manual/paperwork for the vehicle. If you are unable to find this, you will need to take the car to a dealer. They can provide the code with the serial number and the car's VIN.

I need to know how to tighten the serpintine belt. On a 500sl 1990 benz

You need to tighten the idler/tensioner pulley that is o the top right as you look at the belt. There is a lock nut/bolt on the front then a long threaded bolt kind of on top and just behind the pulley. If the belt and pulley or old and this just started making a noise , stop and order a belt and pulley. Once pressure is taken off the old pulley it will usually fall apart.

I fitted the hard top onto my 93 500sl. Drove several hundred miles. I tried to raise the rollbar and it does nothing. I stopped, and tried to unlock the hard top the switch flashes and nothing happens. ...

Poor battery caused low voltage. This in turn with cycling the top multiple times caused the computer to be confused. I took the car to a local repair facility that advertises European and Japanese car specialist. For $150.00 they ran the codes on my computer, found the issue and cleared it. MONEY WELL SPENT. The Mercedes Dealer said to expect 500.00 to 3500.00 worth in repair. I knew the batt. was poor and had been nursing it for a while as I do not drive it everyday. I was using a Batt. low volt. charger on the car while in the garage. Needless to say New batt the same day as the repair. Good luck .

1995 Mercedes 500sl Convt, D/S Pillar is dripping fluid

There are 2 rams at tne top to activate the top securing latches. you will need to remove the rearview mirror and the sunvisors to pull off the top cover. It is not a big job but you will have to be patient so nothing gets damaged especially on reassembly. The r.a.m.s will have part numbers on them that will be the easiest way to get the correct part.

I HAVE A 99 500SL. I REMOVED THE HARD TOP NO PROBLEM. THE SOFT TOP WILL NOT GO UP. THE SWITCH FLASHES IN THE UP POSITION AND THE PUMP RUNS IN THE DOWN POSITION. THE RIGHT REAR TOP LOCK IS IN THE LATCHED...

the soft top module is receiving an illogical switch input. try retracting the top untill all the locks are secure. Make sure your roll bar operates o.k.. also only operate this top with the car running and the windows up. If it still won't work I would suggest having the car scanned for codes. You can try disconnecting the negative cable on the battery and secring the top manually and see if reconnecting neg. will clear the memmory.
