SOURCE: 1995 Saab 900S keeps leaking power steering fluid

First look on the ground for visible sings of fluid you may be able to located it that way if not start at the pump and follow the lines (there will be two, a high and low prssure line) to the rack visually inspect pump, lines and rack.

SOURCE: 1995 saab 900s distributor leaking oil

I had the same problem. First I replaced the seals. Not once but twice, but that did not work. So I purchase a new distributor from online internet parts place in Arizona. I had no more problems. Its been 4 years now since I replaced it.

Power steering fluid leaking. change hose? change pump? Re clamp?

If the hose itself is leaking (not the connection/end) , replace the hose. If the hose is more than 5 years old, I'd probably just replace it. If it's the low pressure hose (return) and it's leaking at the junction, you can probably replace the clamp. If it's the high pressure hose (with the machine-formed hose ends) then replace the hose - a clamp is unlikely to withstand the pressure and you don't want to take the chance of it blowing off when you're turning.

How to repair power steering leak?

You need to first diagnose what is leaking. Most power steering leaks are in the pressure hose but not always. Pressure hoses will have screw on fittings and return hoses will usually just have spring clamps or screw type clamps on the end of the hose. Pressure hose most likely, return hoses 2nd, failing rack and pinion assy 3rd and pressure pump last. If its leaking from the bellows on the end of the rack and pinion the you will need a reman unit. Presure pumps are also remanufactured if thats what you need. hoses are replaced with new hoses or standard return hose for the return line.

Steering rack leaking fluid

Check the power steering hose to the end at the steering rack. There is a good chance that the hose may be leaking or where the hose connects to the steering rack is where your leak is coming from. Note that power steering fluid is flammable and if sprayed on any hot surface like the exhaust manifold may cause in a car fire. Good luck and Auto Zone should have the replacement hose with the step by step instructions to replacing it.

Where is the thermostat in a 900s oh. 97 saab 900S Well my car was overheating and I notice in this model car if you need your oil changed it will overheat. So there is oil and all my fluids are full...

Oil change interval has nothing to do with operating temperature. If your coolant is full, feel the upper radiator hose, when the vehicle is up to temp. if cool , thermostat is back from that hose,

Look for air bleeds, and read owners manual, some cars have coolant bleeds. Also, heater on high when filling coolant or risk bubbles...

My thought is that your fans may not be kicking in. They should cycle on and keep temp low enough. test them.

Power steering leak

To try to find the leak, purchase a spray can of engine cleaner and spray the entire area of the pump and hoses. Then wash off with a garden hose. Fill pump reservoir with fluid. Have someone turn the steering wheel while you look in that area of the pump and hoses with a flashlight for the leak. Be careful of rotating fan and belts!

I have a power steering leak in a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo..it only leaks (leaks the most) fluid when i drive it. What can it be?

First You need to find out where the leak is-coming from,it can only be one of the following power steering hose return and pressure hoses, power steering pump and reservoir and rack and pinion. For any of these leaks they are no quick fixes for thseproblembecuaseof the high pressure in the steering system. So any of the problem you will need to replace that component. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA
