1999 Crown Vic is coil on plug. There are no plug wires. Need to run a diagnostic scan to find which cylinder is mis-firing. When you running diagnostic scan the cylinder mis-fire will be represented by a letter not a number if i am remembering correctly. I have a 1999 but its been years since i had any mis-fire. In order to try a more detailed sollution I would need to know more than you swapped a coil pack and changed plugs.

2000 ford excursion misfire on 2 cylinders #2 & #7

Swapping coils is a waste of time-- as cop ford coils
act up when they feel like it & they do so often, about
one to the entire 8 every year.

I have never heard of moving a spark plug

All those ford trucks are terrible, just to get up in there,
how could you put yourself thru that

Not the coils, your very wrong there

If you have no professional scan tool to use in
Mode #06 --- you buy at least 4 coils from Rock Auto.Com

You start with any cyl you have a code for,if it doesn't
resolve the issue you replace the old coil and walk the
new one to the other codes PO 301 thru PO308

You may have several bad ones

One really bad one will set all sorts of codes
from PO 300,PO 301 thru PO 308, fuel tank sensor
& many others, very strange systems on ford products

I have seen on my Lincoln LS when scan tool software
didn't help & wasn't about to drive around with a scope
on a coil & the wires under the hood blowing around

You have to drive a ford cop ignition at least 20 miles
& they have to get hot.

I have driven for 2 weeks & gone out of state before
they failed

I take 2 coils & my notebook with software, if I go more than
100 miles,I have a travel kit--- that coil issue is so bad

These codes are making me lean towards the ignition coil pack.My stepson's 2001 Sable 3.0 v6 had one cylinder misfiring(5-code P0305),which shares a coil with cylinder 1(code P0301).I diagnosed it by trading wire 1 and 5 at the coil, and the code changed to P0301.You have codes for the two cylinders on the same coil,so this is most likely it.(these codes would also trigger P0300(Multiple Misfires Detected) and P0316(Misfire Detected First 1000 Revs)).

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram half ton 2wd with a 4.7 liter the codes that are showing are p0-300, po-302, p0-308, and p0-2098. The truck is running terrible, can you help? Thanks, Mike

for these codes.

If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

What's your problem? my 2004 mercury monterey has eight codes ,po301,poo53,po106,po316,po300,po304,po305,and po306

PO 300 is multiple misfires detected
PO 301, 304, 305, 306 are misfires in cylinders 1,4,5,&6
PO 053 is HO2S Bank 1 Sensor 1 Heater Resistance
PO 106 is MAP/BARO CKT Range / Perf
PO 316 is Misfire detected 1st 1000 Revs.

On a misfire, I usually push towards the spark plugs, plug wires, and coil packs / distributor coil.
You have PO 106 and PO 053 that need to be inquired about at nearest AutoZone.
They can give you an idea as to what is the problem on these.

Did a MAP sensor **** out and cause all the misfires ?
Did a misfire cause the MAP sensor error?
You see what I'm saying ?...Something caused all the misfires...thinking MAP...but not that familiar with the function of the MAP.

Hope this helps...

A P0301 code means that the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #1.

Symptoms may include:
· the engine may be harder to start
· the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
· other symptoms may also be present

A code P0301 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

· Faulty spark plug or wire
· Faulty coil (pack)
· Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
· Faulty fuel injector
· Burned exhaust valve
· Faulty catalytic converter(s)
· Running out of fuel
· Poor compression
· Defective computer

If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). recall for windows is for the "clips"that attach the window to regulator ...run it buy your local dealership they will rebuild both doors for free if they haven't been done yet. as for the missfire codes, if you have a miss clear the codes , run the motor a couple key cycles till mil light returns and then reread codes.if only one cylinder sets code try swapping just the plug with another cyl;s plug , clear codes, rerun till light returns, read codes again if on same cyl it's the coil for that cyl if it moves to the cyl original plug was put into replace plug.....however 90% of the time when you get P0300 and more than one of the other 4 missfire codes it is from a vaccume leak. not all leaks will show with the old fashion gumout test.
