On the right side of the crank. look under front right side of truck you will see it at about 10 oclock on the front of engine

1998 Ford Explorer. 4.0 liter. SOHC Good fuel pressure. & good fire on plugs. Changed crankshaft sensor . Still wont crank, No fuel is getting thru the Injectors.


check for a problem cam shaft censor as well as a crank position sensor as both are required to be operational for the ECM to start the engine

Sorry you said camshaft sensor look behind the intake manifold back next to the firewall the sensor should be their but, i don't no about a pulley but there is a camshaft synchronizer beneath the sensor itself.

You don't have one on your explorer, it has cam/crank sensor, and coil packs.

Where is the camshaft position sensor located on a 1996 ford explorer 4.0


On the 4.0L OHV engine it is mounted on top of the "Distributor Shaft" at the center rear of the engine.

Location of Speed Sensor 1998 Ford Explorer XLT


polarcycle is right but there is a speed sensor on the drivers side top of the trans. toward the tail shaft or transfer case. there is as well a sensor inside the trans. itself that is mounted on the web. behind the overdrive band and drum.
