Having problems with gearbox on et turbo. Its hard to get into gear and seems to chug and its really jerky in first and second.

when does the clutch pedal start to grab. There should be no more than 2 -2 1/2 inches from floor. Is there any smell to the clutch? there could be oil leaking onto it. Make sure the reservior
is full.

MY 1983 280ZX WITH 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AFTER CAR IS ROLLING. EXAMPLE: YOU CAN BE IN 5TH GEAR AT 55 AND GIVE IT GAS AND THE RPM GO UP ON THE MOTOR BUT IT TAKES A SECOND OR TWO BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION GRAPS. FILL LIKE YOUR IN A AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CAR. ANY IDEA?

You are going to need the gearbox removed and rebuilt is my guess.

Your car must have a leaking gasket. Please let it check by a tech, to avoid more damage.

Why the gearbox can easily change the drive gear?why the 5th gear stop to drive?

first pull the fill plug and check the oil level if low add some if not then it's a bigger problem and you need to take it in.

Hi, im having a similar problem with my Bora 1.9 tdi 6 speed manual.

1st and reverse get stuck (occasionally) and i am having to almost force it out. Any ideas?

I had a similiar problem and actually my gear changer in the car was getting hard to move and eventaully stuck.turns out the gear changer was only moving the gears part way and created a wierd sound.Anyway my mechanic found a new gear changing mechanism and installed it .Since then no problems---thank God.

Tranny problem 1st gear wont work really and its hard to get 2nd gear but 3rd,4th,and 5th work fine plus reverse works fine. do i need to replace the clutch? or is it sumthing else that wont let me get in...

There is problem in the gearbox.The sincronizers for a first & second gear are on the same gearswitch.Need to change them.Forget about the clutch.

Whining gearbox past 3500rpm in every gear and does not stay in second gear.. gear box leaver is really twitchy when you rev the car in gear.. please help! renault 5 gt turbo.1987 model.

sounds like you ran low on gear oil or it hasint been changed in a while and the gears are damaged.

Tranmission shift problem

Check the gearbox filter, it may require replacing.
Its inside the gearbox below , remove the (gearbox)sump and you will notice it.

Gearbox sometimes take a while to go into drive

if it is hard to shift when the vehicle is cold chances are that the oil in the gear box is too thick take it to a shop and try using a thinner oil than what is in the gear box and this will eradicae your problem
