Leaking behind water pump

If it is leaking behind it, you will need to replace the water pump and gasket. The new (can purchase a remanufactured pump, cheaper) pump will (should) come with the gasket.
Please let me know if you need assistance with removal and installation.

Waterpump leak

Hello bladresha: My name is Roger and I will help you. The water pump on the 4.0 engine is located at the rear of the motor inside of the water cross over tube. It does require special tools in order to remove and install. This pump does not bolt in or on to the motor. This is a twist and lock in pump. Just like the Cadillac Northstar motor. You will need to remove the upper hose housing from the crossover tube. Look inside of the housing and you will see the water pump. You will need to use the special tool in order to unlock the water pump. Pay close attention to the water pump when removed. There will be a notch in one of the ears. This is a location notch. The new pump must go in the same notch. I have attached a picture that shows the water pump location. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Where is the water pump located on a 1996 olds aurua the car is over heating

Hi, i would check the thermostat first unless the water pump is leaking as the water pump is where the timing belt is is the timing belt needs removing to get to the pump, take the thermostat out and place it in a tub of boiling water and check if it opens up if it dont then it will need replacing.

you need to bare in mind that it could also be head gasket failure so make sure you get this tested if the thermostat is found to be in working order.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

Water pump replacement - how involved is replacing the water pump

The waterpump on a chevy suburban can be removed once you remove the radiator fan.
  1. Drain the coolant from the system.
  2. Here is a way to remove the fan clutch withouy a fan clutch tool. The trick is to leave the belt on and tight.
  3. Take a 1 7/16 inch wrench and put it behind the fan onto the big shaft nut attaching the fan to the water pump. P
  4. ut it straight up and crack it counterclockwise with a hammer.
  5. This should loosen the nut.
  6. After that just spin the fan off and the rest is easy.
  7. Make sure you clean the old seal off of the engine. It is small and easy to miss.
  8. remove the serpentine belt.
  9. remove the hoses connecting to the water pump
  10. remove 4 bolts holding the water pump onto the block

How to remove and install a water pump on a 2001 Dodge Stratus with a 2.4 ebgine

Remove radiator and fan and anything that will block you from getting to the water pump. Take pictures of each step that you disconnected all parts getting to the water pump and the removal of the water pump with a digtal camera and take the pump to the parts dealer so that you get an exact match. Next read the instructions that come with the pump. Clean all old gasket and glue off of the place where you will install the new water pump. Next take your last picture you take and reverse the order and reinstall the gasket/sealer and water pump and all other parts. Use a tork wrench on the bolts. Add water and anti-freeze to the radiator and start the car and look for leaks.

Water Pump Leaking

the hardest part of this job is removing your fan clutch. you removed your top fan shroud, then your fan clutch, its reverse thread. take off your belt, upper radiator hose and 6 10mm bolts hold it in. clean water pump housing and put all back together. aftermarket water pumps do not come with theermostat, dealer pumps do. remove your belt tensioner from old water pump 3- 15mm bolt, two different sizes and install on your new pump. you need, 10mm socket, 15mm socket, flat head screw driver, pliers to removed hose, fan clutch tool(rent at autoparts store)

Water pump leaking

If you have a 2.4 liter engine, you would be well-advised to take this to a mechanic rather than try replacing it yourself. The water pump in the 2.4 liter engine is driven off of the timing chain, and is on the back side of the engine. You have to remove the serpentine belt, right-side motor mount, harmonic balancer, timing cover, timing chain tensioner, timing chain, exhaust manifold, upper exhaust pipe, etc. When you put it all back together, you have to make sure to properly re-time the cams to the crank shaft. Without a vehicle hoist and a number of special tools, the job would probably take a good amateur mechanic about one full weekend to complete. A well-practiced professional with the right tools can do it in about 6 hours.

If you have the 3.1L V6, the water pump is pretty easy to get to. Just remove the serpentine belt and then unbolt the water pump and remove it from the engine. I would think an amateur could do it in 2-3 hours, and a professional could do it in less than one.

Water leak 2003 dodge 2500 diesel

What you are seeing is the water pump (often mistaken as an idler pulley). It is a very simple change. Remove the belt, loosen the two bolts on the water pump ("diamond shape with pulley on front"), pull the water pump out, and reverse steps. You may want to drain your coolant into a very clean or new bucket first or you will loose good coolant when you pull out the pump. Once water pump is in place, replace belt and your good to go. Tools needed : Belt removal tool or 3/8 inch drive/ratchet with extra long hangle or cheater bar, and i believe a 10 or 13 mm socket for the pump. NAPA carrys a lifetime warranty pump...i suggest it.
