here before you replace the starter.
Bear in mind that the starter solenoid usually fails long before the starter motor itself and is a much cheaper repair.
Starter is on the LH rear of the engine.
NB!! : Whenever you work on the starter first remove the battery negative cable.
On V6 engines remove the LH exhaust downpipe(1).
Remove heatshield(3), 2 electrical connections and then the 2 bolts that hold the starter to the transmission.
On 4 cylinder engines it is possible to remove the starter by just removing the 2 electrical connections and then unbolting the 2 bolts holding the starter to the transmission. In this case an assistant is nescasary to help with holding the nut in the engine bay while you unbolt from the bottom of the vehicle.
