SOURCE: need to bypass heater core
Find two small hoses, probably about as big around as a man's thumb and black. These are not wire bundles. They go into the firewall behind the engine, most likely on the passenger side. Take off the hose clamps and pull the hoses off the heater core ends, Buy yourself a short piece of pipe the same size as the heater core, put the hoses on either end and tighten down the hose clamps. Anchor it somewhere with zip ties so it does not flop around under the hood and you are done. Move south, going to be cold in there this winter. You are not going to have any defroster either..

this is a common problem with the kia sportage I have been through three new units, and I am currently tryin to work out how to bypass the texton unit and install a switch in it's place the problem with the code is it takes a few minutes to start the car each time and if the car is stalled at the traffic lights it takes a while to re enter th code kia really needs to allow it's supporters more technical support as currently there is none
