put an engine flush in first . run the engine on tick over .till oil is hot then drain it. do an oil and filter change may have a build up of carbon in the engine .the flush should deal with that .use 20/40 oil .

Could this be a vapor lock problem?

If you haven't done so already, you would need to find out what is missing when it won't start to proceed.
Does it have spark to the plugs, fuel to the injectors, and so on.

01 dodge intrepid blowin white smoke

if its white smoke and its not due to a drop in outside air temp then this indicates that the motor is burning engine coolant,,which could be caused by a bad head gasket, cracked head, leaking intake gasket.have a block test done to see if there is combustion gases in the coolant.

2.7 engine problems dodge intrepid

check the oil for water. its the most common problem with intrepids. if there is water in the oil then ur engine is full of sludge and you SHOULD NOT drive it because the engine will blow. you need to get the engine checked and cleaned out

KNOCKING &NOISE

These vehicle are known to have bad engine troubles. Most likely the cam bearings are bad, if it was ran for a while after the problem occured, then the main bearings and crankshaft have been affected. The engine will have to come out. It is not a cheap repair. The value of the car is less than the repairs will cost.
