Question about 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab

Blowing 30 amp engine control fuse.

My truck keeps blowing the 30 amp engine control fuse and no one can figure out why.  I was told that the fuse relates to the fuel injection system.  I have checked all of the exposed wires for a short.  I am hoping that some one can help me figure this out.  Is there a relay somewhere that I don't recognize or a part that might be heating up.  The new fuse will blow until the truck sits or maybe because we are towing it.  Something allows us to eventually be able to put in the new fuse.  Thanks for looking.  I hope you can help.

    I have a 1996 Dodge Ram and it keeps blowing the 30 amp Engine control fuse. I put a new one in and the truck starts and blows the fuse again.

You say it eventually allows you to put new fuse in, do you mean when it sits for a while, a new fuse won't blow, but if it blows and you immediately replace it, it blows again instantly?

Why i keep blowing a fuel pump fuse?


Hey Paula, if it keeps blowing that could mean a short in system or more so the pump is having trouble pumping it is 20 years old also check the fuel pump relay

How do you check to find which fuel injector is blowing your 15 amp fuel injection fuses?


Hi K Jones, I'm glad to help!

The only way other then checking the resistance of each Injector would be to unplug one Injector at a time until the fuse doesn't blow then you have found the bad injector. NOTE: Don't rule out a wiring issue grounding out on the engine somewhere because this happens a lot. Hope this helps and have an awesome day K.

30 amp fuse keeps blowing i was able to change it and it would start now it just blows at the turn of my key


If the 30 amp fuse blows there is fault or short within the igntion /fuel pump circuit. You need to check this case by ISOLATION. remove connection of the suspected sections one by one and confirm when the fuse blows as the particular circuit is connected.

2002 ford zx2 injection fuse keeps blowing


Hi, if you're talking about the 30 Amp fuse in the engine compartment, there is a lot of things that could cause this. If it's the smaller 10 amp fuse inside the car, there is less to check. The first thing I would do is to pull the connectors off all the injectors and check impedances with an ohmmeter. If any has a much lower impedance than the rest, disconnect it and see if the engine will run without blowing the fuse. You can use the same approach with most of the other components on that fuse circuit, except you may not be able to start the car in many cases. If the fuse blows when the engine is not running, that would make it easier--does it?

The fuse that keeps blowing is related to your ignition. Get the faults read at a shop and find what is triggering fault and that will lead you to your problem. It's a whole lot easier than throwing parts at it, and cheaper.

Underhood fuse block swap out relay #7 thats the ECM relay.
Ground Circuits Using a DVOM, touch negative voltmeter lead to a good ground. Touch positive voltmeter lead to each ground terminal. With vehicle running, voltmeter should indicate less than one volt. If reading is greater than one volt, check for open, corrosion and loose connection on ground lead. See ECM GROUND LOCATION table for ECM ground location.

My fuel ecu fuse keeps blowing?


Unplug the O2 Sensor and see if it blow again. If it does not the sensor is faulty. Replace with a new one. BTY its in the exhast system.
