SOURCE: vw passat 1.8t battery problem?
Hi
Either your battery has just given up the ghost,........ Is it the original, and now 10 yrs old ?
Or your Alternator is not charging enough, to replenish what is used.
Have battery tested first, if OK, then the alternator belt tension, and alternator for correct output charging rate.
If all these shows no faults, your starter is then suspect.
Good Luck !
A FixYa would be nice thanks !....John.

Okay i had this same problem, i paid $600 dollars for an electrician to fix it.
You might want to check to see if the horn works. Usually when one thing on the dashboard goes out of wack so does the hole thing (specially the gas meter mine left me on the street). Check the horn, the speedometer, the time on the dashboard. If you want to tackle this problem yourself i recommend that you check all the electrical fuses they should be under the string wheel and the relays. Check those, or if you have a friend or someone who knows about this kind of things, you might want to ask them for help. I strongly recommend you check the relay before you consider taking it to an electrical mecanic. I am not sure of the name (or if it even exist) but try searching for the odometer relay.
Hope this helps.

Check for vacuum leaks. Also try cleaning the ISV.
If that doesnt work go to vwvortex.com and post your issue there
