Question about 2000 Nissan Maxima
I have a Nissan Maxima 2000 model that i bought some weeks ago. I actually got it at about 80000km, but interestingly, the speedometer has never worked in my hand. I attempted getting a locla electrician to fix it. They claimed it had to do with the sensor but they could not find the the location of the sensor in the car. All other meters (revolution mtr, fuel, temp, etc) are working. Its only the speedometer dial and the counter that are not working.
Secondly, each time i'm going on a say 2 hour trip, i'm sure not to arrive because as soon as i'm about an hour into the journey, the car will gradually cease to be moving. It will only be moving at an estimated speed of say 20km/hr. However, when i turn the engine off and on, it will pick for like 5-10 minutes and then stop again. It will actually get to a point that the car will completely refuse to start. I have changed about 5 fuel pumps still no solution in sight. Please help out with a solution.
Hello Dave from what your explaining speedometer has a speed sensor usually mounted at the transmission housing wich sensors the speed threw a magnetic pulse from your flywheel its usually mounted with two bolts as for your second problem see if the fuel filter has been changed if so fuel pump cutoff switch or fuel pump relay could be heating up car starts back after it sits for a little one other thing to check is the ignition module heating up
