Question about 2005 Chevrolet Aveo
It is my understanding that the ignition is designed to capture a key and not allow the lock to turn if the transponder chip on the key does not match the vehicle. If somehow your vehicle has lost the code of the transponder or if the transponder in the key is dead you might get this. Could you have the key from another similar vehicle?
Makes sense that disconnecting the battery would disengage the capture feature.

Try wiggling the wheel while you take a small hammer and smack the key lightly straight in if that dose not work try forcing the shifter over toward park while rocking the wheel and the key good luck and let me know if that works, -jeff please rate
