1988 Buick Lesabre drained battery

I have gotten a 1988 Buick Lesabre and it ran fine for about a week. During the first rain, the battery light came on and I barely made it home from work. The light flickered at first, then would only come on when the brakes went on, finally it would come on when I accelerated. I jumped thew car later and left it run. After about ten minutes it went dead completely. The alternator has just been replaced two months ago, and the battery is only a year old. Is there a connection that could be bad, or is the battery or alternator shot?

Sounds like either the belt is loose or fell off . or the alternator is shot you can have the alternator tested at an auto zone and also go ahead and check all the fuses with a test light including the big main fuses under the hood, check the connector on the back of the alternator for melting or damage and check all the battery cables especially the grounds for clean tight connections and good grounds to the body of the car, i believe your alternator is toast but it could have failed due to poor connections better safe than sorry good luck please rate -jeff

Sounds like you have a bad alternator. but first , check the battery connection o the positive side where the cables overlap eachother. they like to corrode in between the two cables and do just what your saying. but it really sounds like you need an alternator. have someone check the red wire on the back of the alternator and see if there is power there al the time- should be. if so replace the alternator, i have had many new or not vary old one fail. - good luck

My car seat for one day it wont started something is draning my batteries 1988 buick lesabre

Do you have a 12 Volt test light? Disconnect one cable off your battery and connect your test light to that cable and the battery post. Did it light up fully? Then something is draining your battery. It could be bad alternator, disconnect it and see if your test light goes out. If not, start pulling you fuses out one by one and see If you can identify the circuit that drains your battery. Helpful? I hope so.

Window open during rain on 2000 buick lesabre, now nothing works from drivers door or any door. can't any blow fuse or curcit breakers. lights even won't come on. Have power on orange at door panel moduel....

Could be something in the wiring harness or the master switch.
You'll have to use a meter or test light to track the power and grounds. I would start with the master switch. There is also a door module in the circuit.

2001 Buick LeSabre, 175,000 + miles. Won't start after it rains. Turns over fine, good battery. Has happened 4 times last three months. Local mechanic said likely fuel filter or fuel pump. Have gotten it...

Your cars problem lays into the electrical system only. Wetness is causing a short. When you turn the key on and off for so many times the connections to the battery and starter get warmer each time in turn dries out the connections the contact is made so it will start.
If the car will not start at all when wet the plug wires would be at fault. Yours does start as you state so the wires are fine so far. I would check the connections of all wiring to the starter, battery, & alternator making sure they are corrosion free and tight

Low voltage, the battery runs low when running the car

What is the voltage you are reading? Is it below 13.2 or so? Also have you checked the current with the engine off to see if something else is working that should not be on. I ran across this twice while working on a truck and car. A relay that was wore out keep trying to close and would drain the battery every couple of months. Sometimes you can hear them clicking or buzzing. Touching them sometimes they are warm or real hot. But that is not a sure sign it is bad. In my Trailblaze they get hot but are ok. Another thougth is the belt on your alt, correctly set to spin it at the right voltage. I have ran across this many times lately with serpatine belts.

1988 buick lesabre starter problem

It's probably either got a bad connection on the starter, or the wires to the starter are not hooked up properly. If you have head lights and lights and its ticking its definetley not your battery.
