Radiator How do I find out were my fire wall is and the hose that runs from it to the water pump,and alsothe one hose that runs from thewall to the top engine

Most water pumps have a weep hole that leaks when the pump seal is broken. Usually indicates the water pump needs replaced.

Water leaking at fire wall


It may be the drain for the ac check and see if it has antifreeze in whats leaking if not it is ac drain it supposed to drain when using the ac

My 1994 sierra 1500 is leaking antifreeze right out. IS THIS MY WATER PUMP?


look in engine compartment from underneath- if water coming from directly over crank pulley(big one closest to ground) ,yes its the water pump- could also be lower hose(radiator hose closest to ground),if leaking up top - could be other radiator hose- if leaking near fire wall- heater hose- ?where is the water appearing?

I changed radiator,thermostat, water pump,and replaced a freeze plug in back of engine and still not getting heat?


it possible your heater core may be clogged. the heater core is mounted on the fire wall inside the vehicle. you can remove the two hoses going through the fire wall and use a water hose to determine whether it is clogged or not

My car just started to note that I needed to check my coolant level ab out a week ago. I would pour coolant in, and it would leak out. I thought it might of been when the A/C was on, but it was leaking a...


There are a few connections ports that need to be checked. if you cannot find the leak at these places then that happens at the seal of the water pump. When the water pump seal is bad then time to replace the water pump. Why? it is the same labor for the job. Hope that you don't get overheat. This is happening when your water pump is not turning: broken bearings.

Therefore check these following connections first, sometimes the rubber hoses get deteriorated then the clamps need to be tightened to minimize the leak.
1- Upper hose connect to radiator.
2- Lower hose connect to bottom radiator and engine port that is water pump inlets
3- Over flow hose.
4- 2 Heater hoses coming to the fire walls.

I cant afford to fix heater core at this time so how do i identify hoses to bypass

Here is a link for you if you want to replace the heater core your self with common tools. As for the heater hose, you should see two small radiator hose going to the fire wall. You can disconnect the hose from the fire wall and connect them together, this will by pass the heater core till you replace the bad core. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know your expedition is running 100% again.

Losing water no oil in water over heating


could have a hose leaking, heater hose, upper or lower radiator hose, coolant recovery tank leaking, radiator leaking, water pump leaking. You could put something under the car when you park it to get a general idea where to start looking for the leak. Make sure what ever it is you will be able to see the water when you get up in the morning. Might try a large piece of cardboard cut to fit under radiator and engine all the way up under fire wall just to have the whole engine bay area covered so you'll be able to find the leak

Have an '85 CJ7--put in new radiator and thermostat, new water pump--fan shroud installed, Jeep still overheats, motor runs good, doesn't act like it's a head gasket problem????? Can't figure out why it's...


Take out the thermostat and run it like this for while. If the motor still over heats: Look over by the battery, do you see where those two hoses from the radiator and the water manifold are going into the firewall? Take the hose going to the manifold from the firewall off of the connection at the firewall and connect it directly to the water pump. I think the manifold hose is the one on the right just make sure it's not the one coming from the water pump. You'll have to remove the hose coming to the fire wall from the water pump where it is connected at the pump but, that's OK for now just tie/tape it to something out of the way. Now then, your water pump will be sending water directly to the water manifold without any obstruction. When you run the motor for a little while and find that it stays super cool, I then suggest (if you want any heated air this winter) that you have the heater core (there behind the firewall where the two hoses were going) flushed clean or replaced and hooked back up. Once water can flow freely through the system your thermostat can probably be reinstalled w/ out overheating the motor.
