Question about 1997 Honda Passport

1 Answer

No communication to the computer

I am trying to get my passport threw its emmissions. I have been to three places and they are all telling me that there is a commincation problem. I have checked all the fuses and looked for lose wires. A mechanic freind hooked it up to his hand held scanner and that worked( he said it was probably because it has its own battery and the emissions scanner relies on the cars battery power. where shoud i start to look?

2005 Hyundai Accent.. when car almost at complete stop, it stalls and will start up only when you remove fuse R/W diode and then put back in place. Fuse under hood. What is this trying to tell me?

Replace the diode. They do go bad and leak voltage. Diodes are made to let electricity threw one side. Could be a wiring issue or computer problem.

How do you reset the computer so it can go through emmissions.

I would veture a guess the failure is an emission code problem and the conditions for the failed problem are not met. Make sure the fuel level is just below 3/4 full. That will allow the emissions tests to run. You can also disconnect the battery cable for 10 minutes and that will reset the fault counter.

1996 maxima 02 sensor and knock sensors have both been replaced with new parts. car has been driven over 200 miles. how many miles untill system resets to pass emmissions ??

with a hand held diagnostic computer it can be done in about an hour. Drive the car as an owner it could take up to a month. It is the driving condition , not mileage that resets the ECM. You have to drive on the highway at certain speeds for a certain amount of time, then in city driving, stop and go and at certain speeds for so long. The computer guides you threw it. If you only drive city or highway you may never get it to reset.

The cheapest place will be a salvage yard. they can tell you the miles on it and in most cases will offer a very good warranty

1999 vw jetta cannot communicate with obd to pass emmissions Help! Just had cat replaced.

If it can't communicate with it then replace the fuse. It could be blown. If the fuse is good then try disconnecting the battery for about an hour to reset the default values in the computer. It may not recognize the new cat. The last resort is taking it to the dealer to re-flash the drive. Good luck

Computer "not ready" for emmissions testing

Your computer will re-set and be "ready" after a certain number of restarts and miles, depending upon how much you use the car it should take from a few days to a week. Surprised the tech didn't tell you that!
