Question about 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan AWD
Hello; My caravan has an issue with the key; I insert the key in the ignition, but it will not turn. No movement at all. The only way I can get the key to turn is to turn the steering wheel rapidly right to left. The wheels are pointed straight ahead on the car, that is, the steering wheel is not turned to its stop and binds the lock mechanism. This problem occurs regardless of where the steering wheel is located in its travel. Any thoughts on what is going on here.
You will need a replacement lock mechanism these vans had common problems with them and the dealer can key the new lock to your key please rate -jeff

This happened to my 2000 caravan a year ago. I ultimately had the ignition switch replaced. BUT, in a pinch, you can try this. It worked for me until I could get the car in to replace the switch.
Put the key in the ignition. Lightly tap the end of the key straight into the lock with a hammer or wrench. The key should turn.
Search the web and you shoudl see that this is a pretty common Chrysler complaint. Good Luck.
