Have you done something to the wiring that would make you think the ground wiring is defective?

Ok I have solved the problem with the no headlights and no power to the wipers. I had enough with all the post on the internet to the effect of maybe it's this or maybe it's that? Well after careful reviews and going over the blueprints and wire diagrams I have found the issue on all these problems for no headlights and no wiper blades. The GROUND WIRE IS THE PROBLEM. There are two wires that come from the light switch and these two wires connect to a third wire that supplies ground to the Wiper Motor. The very easy fix to this is to take the two grounds from the plug on the light switch. You will need to remove the three bottom screws from the steering housing and counter twist the tilt steering arm to remove it. After this take the first wire to the left (Black/White Strip) and the second to the right (Black) and add a clip on wire connector. Join the two together and ground them to a Grounding source. This allows the ground to be routed to another source and you wont need to find the broken ground. After this you will have everything working 100%. I just did this to my daughters car and it is now perfect. I have a picture to show wire harness. This job took me 20 minutes and no HIGH Labor cost. Sounds to me like you have a weak ground wire. check loose fittings on fender wells. use a multi-meter and test the voltage going to each light to ensure it is proper voltage.

Replaced alternator on sunfire now headlights wont work

Do the high beams work? How about he signal lights? seems to me a light relay (fuse) is gonzo. Basically, there is a light switch that is wired to a fuse/relay. From this fuse relay there is another wire that goes towards the headlights. Seeing both lights are not working chances are the fuse /relay is done for. Cheap and easy fix.

Check for vacuum leaks. Fuel filter clogged? Check spark plug wires and make sure spark plugs are gapped correctly. Get fuel injection cleaned.

I have a Pontiac Sunfire 2001 2.2, DRL is flashing that will eventually cause a Service Alarm on my panel. I could bypass the alarm by turning my headlight manually. What could be the possible problem?

Check for corroded wires. The wiring harness starts under the battery tray and sometimes the battery leaks acid on the connector and corrodes it. If the connector looks good and the bulbs are good then more than likely the harness is rubbing between the washer bottle and the body creating an open or short to ground in either the pink wire or the blue wire to the headlights.

No headlights

A bad headlight switch is a common problem with these cars. All of the power for the lights goes though this switch. You can try wiggeling the switch with the lights on, if they flash off and on as you move the switch the switch could be the problem.
