You need to check your coil, heat control sensor, timing chain, Also is it a stick shift. It could be a bad clutch plate. If its all worn down, it will slip at higher rpm's.

If you look at what I tell the others in most of there problems. major tune up and clean out your thottle body take it off and clean it out with a lint free town and carb cleaner will fix a lot.

you could have low compression, pull one plug at a time and make sure the psi's are correct.

I want to know if the timing belt need to be replace the valve will be bad

Yes, the double overhead cam and turbo engines are interference type.
So if the timing belt broke while the engine was running, the valves could be damaged.

Got the wires cross up on a 96 saturn sc single overhead cam

I'm guessing that you are talking about the spark plug wires. Below is a diagram for you. I hope this helps and good luck.

Car is putting at an idle when gas is pressed runs smoothly

sounds like either you have 2 of the wires crossed.........one is loose....probably #1 or your #1 plug needs regapped or is not tight and losing seal....all will cause a misfire and set the check engine light

'99 Saturn SC1 with intermittant check engine light P0341

a p0341 code mean cam reference performance, really it means you have a secondary ignition problem,,,,like a bad ignition module
a bad crank sensor
a high resistance spark plugs,do not use bosch platinum plugs in these cars
high resistance spark plug wires,,,i work at the dealer and the first thing we do is replace the spark plugs and wires if that dont work we replace the crank sensor,if thatdont work we reaplce the ignition mondule, and by then your fixed and you started with the cheapest items first,,,i would try plugs and wires and a crank sensor,,,,wires $50 plugs $14 crank sensor $37

I just need to know what size engine comes in a saturn SL1, it's a 1997?

Unless it has been modified it is a 1.9L 4 cylinder, the same engine in all Saturns from 91-99. The only difference is whether or not it is a SOHC or DOHC, meaning single or double overhead cam. Double overhead cam has spark plug sockets in the center of the top of the head and is overall slightly larger than the SOHC engine which has spark plug sockets on the front of the engine. Usually there will be something on the rear bumper like DOHC as well. The engines are nearly identical in all other respects but the transmissions are not the same. If your car has 14 inch wheels most likely you have a SOHC while if your wheels are 15 inch you have a DOHC.

I have a 99 saturn sc2 with a twin overhead cam. it has a hard knock in the top end driver side. Do u know what it could be?

Most likely it's a stuck lifter. Try running some SeaFoam or Marvel Mystery Oil in the oil for maybe 500 miles and then doing an oil change; usually this will free them up. Otherwise you'll probably have to replace the lifters (they come as a set). How many miles do you have on it? What oil do you use? And how often do you change it?
