The book tells you to use a computer to erase it . you can go to either auto zone or advance auto and ask them to hook up there computer for free and erase it . But i usally cheat . i unplug baterry for24hrs and the codes and engine light goes away. Dont cheat the time tho i really does take a long time for some weird reason in this care unlike my other car it took five minutes.

Pontiac grand am I had a diagnostic reading at autozone for diagnostic codes po128,po440 and p1189 don't know what they mean for a 2003 Pontiac grand am gt 3.4 liter and v6 engine vehical

PO128 -- engine coolant low or thermostat not working
P0440 - EVAP system malfunction, gas cap loose - Cat convertors missing from car can cause this
P1189 - Engine Oil Pressure Switch Circuit -- CAT CONVERTORS MISSING FROM CAR can cause this.

If i fit a new fuel injection pump in my grand cherokee jeep 1998 2.5 tdi do i need a code

code, what does that mean?
ahh the computer fear thing, like on all newer cars.
you meant does my PCM need to be reprogrammed to use my new pump.
NO> !

step one says: for pump)
but if you remove the cars battery , some things will forget.
like radio stations, or radio password activation codes.
i think 98 has no radio codes. no NAV , no idle learn codes
and for sure no throttle by wire, re-learn codes.

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT. I got it at an auction and the radio says LOC. I cant turn it on. What do i do?

LOC usually means LOCKED because wrong codes have been entered.

To reset , leave SWITCHED ON...UNDISTURBED for as long as it takes to automatically reset itself.

This can often be as long as 24 hours or more as the waiting time doubles after each wrong code.

1999 grand prix gt 3.8v 6 error codes 300 and 302

The PO300 code is random/multiple cylinder misfire detected. Sinsc you have the code PO302, that means that cylinder 2 is the one misfiring, usually a bad coil pack, or spark plug.

I have 98 pontiac grand prix gt has code p0300. we replaced the fuel filter and plugs and wires. Check engine light went off. Started bogging again. Parked the car and now will not start at all. ohm says...

Is the electric fuel pump in the gas tank working ? turn the key to start positon and listen for a small humming noise you may have to have someone get under car to listen if it is humming then it`s working if not first check for a reset button possible in trunk be sure manual to find it if it has one and check fuse in fuse box if all is good there then it might be the fuel pressure regulator

Need info for codes

P0171 System too Lean (Bank 1)
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
check for vacuum leaks
check fuel for contamination or water
check fuel pressure
the other 2 codes could be related to these 2 codes and are manufacturer specific codes
