2000 Dodge Intrepid driver side rear door will not open. I removed the door panel and all rods functioning. I assume door lock mechanism is broke inside. How Do I get the door open so latch can be replaced?

SOURCE: I used a slim jim and now my door won't open from the outside.

Open up the door panel and put the control rod back on. that often happens when getting in that way...still cheaper than a locksmith or a window!! (clip is probably in the bottom of the door)

Door panel will have to come off to repair, most likely has broken door handle or cable/linkage problem.

SOURCE: power door locks lock but will not unlock

Get a can of penetrating spray, (WD-40) or similar, and attach the little tube to the can, and direct spray inside the latch area of the door, and spray up,down, behind etc., all around area of latch, enough that it will run down to areas you can't see as well. As well, stick tube as far inside key holes as you can and spray inside it, as well as spray as you draw it back out of the hole. It may take a couple of these treatments, but any linkages that are partially seized/rusted, will hopefully become un-seized and start working again. Once they are working again, get a spray can of "white lithium grease" shake it well and spray it in the same places, same manner, to keep them lubricated, and hopefully from seizing up again.

When i lock al my doors on my 2004 Chrysler pacifica from my keychain all doors lock except for the driver door. The alarm is still activated but if someone tries to open the driver door it will open and...

This can happen If you have used the IGN. key to unlock the drivers door after you locked them from the fob. This can also be caused by a stuck button on the drovers door. Check the drivers door all buttons to see if any are stuck. If you do not have any stuck buttons. Try this, from inside the car, with out the car running, use the button on the drivers door to "lock all doors". Then use the fob to unlock them, then get out and press the lock button on the fob twice real quick. This should cause the drivers door to lock as the others. Hope this helps Fix Ya Up.

About 6 months ago someone tried to break into my driver side door. Ever since, you couldn't unlock the door from the outside with a key. The door would open and close just fine though. About a week ago,...

That sounds like what happened to my neighbor. They came to the conclusion that someone tried to jam a screwdriver in the lock to open the door.As far as not openeing anymore, that happened to me and I had to replace the mechanism inside the door.I bought a used one for $5 and did it myself.A regular mechanic should be able to fix it however, you may end up needing to have 2 separate keys for your car if they replace the lock.1 for the ignition and other locks, and 1 for the drivers side lock.Call around a few places for a few estimates.Tell them the same as what you posted, they should be able to give a close estimate over the phone. Also, please read my tip about car keys.It is good free info.Good luck! My door wont open from the inside but will open from the outside

This sounds like it could be one of a couple of things. The rods which attach the door handles to the lock assembly are held in place by plastic clips, these clips break and the rods fall out. You will need to open the door, remove the inner trims and check. If it has, replace the rod back into its slot and put a new clip on it. It may be that someone has tried to force the doors with a slim jim. This can result in the rods being bent or pulled off the lock assembly and can be fixed as above. If this is a rear door, check the child proof setting in case someone has turned it to the safe position. This is located around the lock assembly itself and can only be accessed when the door is open, look on the edge of the door next to the lock for a very small lever and swap it to the other position, then try the door from the inside..

Door locked, from inside and out

sounds as if the door latch may be too far in causing this to UN open if you can understand that try pushing against the door and allowing someone else to work the door handle just trying to relieve the pressure a if you manage to open the door , readjust the door striker bolt as well as lubricate the lock ,otherwise remove the window completely so you wont break it while working on the door latch from inside the vehicle are all the linkages still connected ? try lubricating the lock latch as well it can be a pain but if you are patient enough you can get the door to release if and when you do remove the screws and linkages to the lock and remove and either replace or clean the latch itself and oil it good work it by hand a dozen times to ensure the working lock itself then when your confident it is working replace it and reverse method to reinstall
