you probably damaged the 4x4 actuator, this is common, goto dealer and get a new one, they aren't too expensive.

Recheck your connector you plugged back in for damage or dirt and water look for any pins that may have broken or got damaged also check the wiring to that connector may have been damaged the 4x4 acctuator is on the front differential and is expensive so dont rule that out just yet read the owners manuel for the proper engagement and dissengagement of the 4wd sometimes you have to get the truck rolling about 5mhp and put it in neutral for a minute to equalize the speeds of the transfer case, theyre maybe a 4wd reset procedure in the owners manual you should try also recheck that plug and let me know -jeff

Stuck in 4 wheel drive and wont come out.

hey there i cant tell you what you are missing but i can tell you how to disengage the front wheels . ok you have a vacum line that runs right under the battery and a line that comes up from the front diff. to the same place ( you may have to remove batt and batt tray to get full access to this) un bolt it and temporaly put batt and batt tray back in start it up and decompress this and see if it comes out .... you should here clunking noise if it goes back in ... if thats the case just pull that big vaccum line off .... to test get all four tires off the ground and have some one put it in drive but dont hit the gas it should turn on its own ...if that dont work check the cable that runs down to the differental

Shuts off will driving, especially if I hit a bumpy road.

check the wires to the fuel pump if they have rubbed against something and the insulation wore through hitting bumps or rain could cause it to short and kick the relay and resets again and will start

99 Silverado 4-wheel drive not engaging

It does not seem that sufficient diagnosis was done. No, you cant give a specific diagnosis like that without tearing unit down. It's likely that they told you the most common failure and left it at that. Likely there is a problem with your unit...I think this becomes more of a trust issue than a mechanical one. A second opinion from an independent reputable shop may help but either way, you need to have it fixed. In not using it much, it makes me wonder how it got worn.
good luck

1996 K1500 Stuck in 4 low

I ran across this problem with another vehicle....try putting it in another position (2 wheel high, 4 wheel high) and rocking it from drive to reverse, drive to reverse. Also try backing up at a pretty good clip and stepping on the brakes hard.....hope this works for you.

2002 silverado stays in 4 high

Fluid is not going to fix this.

It sounds like an actuator problem or a stuck solenoid on the transfer case that engages the four wheel drive. try hitting the four wheel drive module while hitting the button. if nothing and don't want to waste the gas mileage take off front driveshaft until you can dig deeper into the problem.

thanks jeff
