Thanks, replied to it. The user has replace the ECU already and the most critical, the crank angle sensor. Probably something basic, like a missing ignition B+12.

Kind regards.

Hi nutsnigga,

As you've got spark the engine must be turning over, otherwise you wouldn't know.... You say that the starter just clicks and the battery is new....If the engine is turning, what do you mean....

If you have spark and fuel and the engine is turning, you've got another problem.....but one that's related.....The most likely, especially if you carried on until the engine became so hot, it stopped you!....the cylinder head gasket has blown....Check the oil and see if it's turned a milky grey colour.....If it has....cylinder head and or gasket....but that's not the end....You may have seized rings or seals....Is it a rotary engine?... With engines these days, the operating temp is much higher, part of falling in with emission controls.....the down side..... if it over heats, much more damage.....Check the compression and see if there's leakage.

Best of luck Johngee10

I have 85 rx7 12a engine carb getting spark and fuel,it will turn but it won't start what could it be.

It takes 3 things for a car to run... spark, fuel, and air. Sounds like you should be looking for a problem with the air, IF it is getting spark and fuel. Food for thought.

On my 1985 rx7 12a does both leading and trailing spark plugs fire all the time?

The coils might be wire in reverse polarity. The FSM diagram shows that the B/W ground wires go to the terminals and the yellow striped wires go to the - terminals which is different than most.
