Ok bmw's are breeds of their own so try this first. Odds are this wont fix it but try anyway. See if you have a blown fuse. If that is not a fixer then you must buy a switch. The switch where you dim the dash lights is bad. You must buy that switch and replace it. That will fix ya right up

Dash light dimmer

Replace the dash light bulb, sometimes filament is broken, but bulb works the same.

If bulb is ok , then is a bad wiring.

How to fix the Dash lights?

It's probably just your fuse. The fuse for your dash lights also controls your taillights. Bill.

How do you fix the dash and running lights?

With what info you've given,it would not have been the light switch or the rheostat for changing dash light brighting.Since both the dash lights and running lights are not working, first thing I'd have done is replace the fuse, since both are o the same fuse.Kinda like when my Toyota wipers would stop, the overdrive stopped working too. Both were on the same fuse.Replace the fuse and good to go.I carry fuses with me.

I have a 1987 nissan pickup. The brake lights quit working. what would make them stop working?

Sounds like brake light switch has gone bad. It's just above brake pedal under dash. Small plastic switch with a couple wires coming from it. Simple fix.

Turnsignal lights and gauges don't work also charging light is on horn does not work. Hazard lights work, headlights work, vehicle starts find although my son said the engine would rev up high and stay...

check the fuses under the dash as well as the ground points. if the gauges aren't working (speedo, tach) there are more pressing issues and the truck may need to be gone through with a fine tooth comb. these things are good indicators that someone started to fix a problem and never completed the fix, just disconnected a bunch of stuff and only partially re-assembled.

BREAK LAMPS and PARKING LAMPS STOPPED WORKING

I know this may be a silly Question, so forgive me ...
Did you check the fuses? One fuse controls every thing you listed as being out.
You may also have to make sure your alarm is not interfearing with your diagnosing.
And yes these trucks do have light switch problems. I have often taken the cover off the back of the switch and cleaned the contacts with some fine sand paper.
It works about 4 out of 5 times.
Please let me know if this helps
