My daughters 2001 Bravada has the problem of getting the key stuck after turning the key to the engine off position. The key will not move from this position until you have disconnected the positive battery terminal over night, or at least that is what I did. The key came out- I put it back in though and drove it around the block and it got stuck again is their a cheap solution to this problem does any one know?

I have a similar problem with my 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. The car will turn on just fine, but when I turn it off, the ignition won't turn past the ACC position. I use graphite spray to lubricate the ignition key hole and it seems to temporarily resolve the issue (it didn't fix the problem and the issue seems to get worse over time.) I have a feeling, the problem is with dirt or rust deposits in the ignition lock. I'm going to try cleaning the key hole with a light oil solvent, followed by some canned air to blow out the residue. Then a light coat of graphite spray. I'll post results. (replacement parts are 119.00 bucks for my car, so...let's try the 10 dollar solution first.)

Why is my key stuck in the ignition?

Try rotating the steering wheel. I've had this happen from time to time in cars where the wheel is almost in the lock position, but not quite. You may have to jiggle it to remove the key.

I replaced my 1997 Jimmy ignition and when I turn the key, nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Go out to the battery, loosen it up, run some sandpaper to get the terminals nice and shiny, on both the battery and the wire connectors, and then tighten them up very well. If that doesn't work, pull the battery out again and get it charged up.

When i turn off my vechile the key gets stuck in ignition and will not turn off all the way sometimes and battery light stays on what is my problem

You need a new ignition. The tumblers are off and sometimes this prevents the key from rotating. Lightening your keychain when it is in the ignition helps prevent this.

on some of these models, under the steering columb , there is a small place where either a screw is there to remove or, just pull out a plastic plate, and inside should be a small white button, or lever, hold up on it while turning the key to the off position.

Can't turn key to start car on 2001 jimmy

Have you tried to turn the stearing wheel side to side while turning the key? Sometimes the wheel gets bumped and it locks with the key in the ignition and the added tension won't alow you to turn key unless you turn the wheel from one side to the other.
