Replace vacuum check valve.  Every dodge I have owned has had this same problem.  Maybe it is a defect.  My mechanic charged me $10.86 for the part, so I don't think it is expensive.

Without doing so testing it would be hard to say , would just be guessing . Where did you have it checked ? If it does change every once and a while , I would think it could be a sticking actuator or in the heater and A/C programmer module . The heater and A/C programmer will direct the blended air in one of several air delivery modes. The side window outlets receive the airflow during all of the modes of the operation. The heater and A/C programmer directs air to the other outlets by energizing specific vacuum valves. This feeds the appropriate combination of mode valve actuators.

1995 S-10, when going uphill or accelerating my AC blows out the defrosters when backing off it comes out the vents again

It is almost certainly due the drop in manifold vacuum when climbing hills or accelerating. Back in my youth windshield wipers stopped when you stepped on the gas.

Air conditioner blows out defrost vents when acceleration.

In f150 truck there is a small vacum hose passenger side up by the windshield. It's a small hose check really good they dry rot and it will cause your vents to switch. Also if your box is bad. It's next to the battery

I am thinking the vacuum hose is going to be the problem in this one though.

When a/c is running why would air stop comming through vent and go through defrost?

The panels (or flaps, if you prefer) that are used to direct the air to the windshield, the panel, or the floor are operated by engine vacuum to be moved one way, and spring tension to move the other. When you step on the gas to climb a hill, or move out from a stop, the vacuum goes away (it is generated by the engine trying to get air, and the closed throttle preventing it from doing so), and the panels are moved into their rest position by the springs. So the air direction can change until the vacuum is reestablished to properly configure the ventilation directing panels.

On my Aries K wagon, the air comes out the defrost when I step on the gas.

2002 vue early production 4 cyl. Heating/AC vents - no output

Hi there, Sounds like a vent door switch. It's in your dash and it controls the vent door opening and closing and to which duct the air goes to, defrost, face vents, floor. Best thing to do is buy a Haynes or Clinton's repair shop manual at your local AP store for your particular vehicle. Then read up on it in the trouble shooting section or the step by step RR section. You can purchase these at your local Auto Parts store or buy them on line at ebay burdfrenzy
