Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Power windows and powered mirrors won't work and I suspect a relay but I don't know which one it might be. I wasted some money on a Hanes book because all the help those guys would give me was to say "check the fuse". Nothing is labeled power windows.

I had the same problem. I took it to the Jeep dealership and they wanted to replace my door latch and replace the window motor. I checked the wire after reading this post and the problem is fixed! - Thanks for saying me the $530.00 they wanted to fix a little wire.

I am having the same problem. I can't control anything (locks, windows, side mirrors) from my drivers side controls. But, the passenger side doesn't have control of the windows, and the rear passenger doors has no power to the windows. I was told it was a relay switch on the computer. Can the boot on the drivers side cause all of the controls on the other doors to not work?

Same problem with power windows, door locks, remote mirrors, and courtesy light . . . nothing worked. Tried the fix with sliding the rubber boot back and sure enough, the black wire was broken. Since that was probably the ground wire for all the componenets, it makes sense that none of them would work. Jeep dealer told me it would be about $480 for new parts and 1 1/2 hours labor at $90 per hour. I fixed the wire with a 7 cent crimp connector and 3 cents worth of heat shrink tubing.

    THANK YOU!

Hey man, I had this same exact problem today. In your door jam, there is a rubber boot that is enclosing wires for your powered options. Pull back the rubber boot and check the wires. I guarantee that there is atleast 1 broken if not more. Splice them back together and tape the **** out of them with electrical tape. let me know if this was the problem!! Hope this helps!

It really is in the boot. I read these solutions yesterday after my power windows, locks and mirrors stopped working on Sunday!! Went home and checked it out.... The wire was broken inside the boot and when it was replaced...... it was FIXED.
Definately a great experience----no money out to JEEP for diagnostics or repair!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Does this sound like your problem as well, or was your just isolated to the driver door only?
Love spending my Sunday, looking after this....
Thanks for the time...

Just confirmed this on my 04 cherokee. The yellow and black wire was cut on mine so all the windows would not work. Also, the power locks and interior lights would not work on the other doors. Clearly, this wire sends OUT a signal and it being sliced, that signal never made it...

Why is it stalling over and over?

Check to see if wipers and heater motor work when vehicle stalls. If all the electronics that you mentioned don't work along with the wipers and heater motor, I would suspect an ignition switch failure

The driver side power window and power mirror is not working. Would this be a bad fuse or possibly a bad electric motor? I pulled the fuse panel, but I don't see anything for the power windows. Any...

well being that the power mirror and window both get power from the same source aka one lead wire i would check to make sure the wire is not damaged from door opening and closing ect.
also there is a fuse somewere for power windows but typically bothh would not work if fuse issue howerver check your power window relay if that is not the issue either a wire came out of the fuse box for driver side door power and or the wire is damaged

if it helps please leave a good thumbs up

Clicking noise coming from relays in fuse box

Have you noticed any water or other signs of a leaking windshield under the dash. It sounds like you have a GEM module problem, it bolts to the back of the fuse/relay box. If it is from water damage you will need to replace the fuse box aswell as the GEM (generic electronic module) don't forget to reseal the windshield.

Rear window not opening

Sounds like a relay problem. Also I'd check the rear power window motor. That might be also out. To save some money from buying the parts. I'd check with a junk yard see if they have some parts.
