Transmission fluid the transmission fluid is low in my 04 kia rio. there are many different kinds. what kind of transmission fluid should i use?

The clutch system in the Kia rios of those years are clutch cables, not hydraulic. There is no need for clutch fluid. Have a mechanic look at your clutch cable tension.
If it turns out to be a tranny prob thank Korea for building cheap cars.

If the transmission is full and not low on fluid I suspect you may need to have the fluid changed in it, this should be done every 60,000 miles minimum. If that fails to improve the problem then you are looking at a ****** rebuild.

This would mean (a) the transmission fluid temp sensor is bad, or (b) the computer is bad, or
(c) the connector or wires to the sensor have corroded/been damaged somehow.

which means that the voltage coming from the sensor is read by the computer as too low,
which also means that it could be zero. Zero voltage can happen if the transmission fluid temperature
sensor connector has been unpluged, or one of the wires to the sensor have been cut/damaged/corroded.
If there has been recent repair activity to the car, then its possible that this sensor's wires or
connector has been disconnected/cut/damaged somehow.

go to a parts store, they will have a long skinny funnel which you put in the transmission dipstick hole to put fluid in there. please be quite sure that you know the difference between the oil and transmission dipsticks before pouring it in.
